TOOTHPICKS OF JUSTICE
Tremble in your loafers, New York Times! Collapse like Walter Mondale in a comeback Senate bid, Minneapolis Star Tribune! Cry into your gumbo, New Orleans Times Picayune! IndyMedia is coming after you:
“Freeze the Media Day” is when people all around the country drop superglue and toothpicks into the money slots of slimy corperate media newspaper dispensers. This is a statement to figures who like to put themselves in places of power that the power still remains with the people and that we can still tear down any institutions we feel the need to because the were built over the labor on our backs.
IndyMedia built corporate media institutions? That explains a lot. Meanwhile, someone is dropping superglue at the Sydney Morning Herald, as Leigh Cartright reports. Midway through this Paul McGeough piece from Iraq, the story abruptly begins covering the Bali trial of imprisoned Australian Schapelle Corby. Will Ayad Allawi shoot her? Only the SMH knows.
Leigh has saved the page here. In other fringe media news, Michelle Malkin notes a sanity intervention at Democratic Underground; best wishes to Laura Ingraham.

What dicks. They do nothing but complain about their “oppression” while not lifting a finger to build a fucking thing. Yet let someone else build something, and these Neanderthals, these Mongols, have to purge their overwhelming feelings of envy and inadequacy by destroying it. Scum.
I hate the mainstream media, but I’ll be damned if I’ll vandalize them for their blatant bias and dishonesty. But these homunculi apparently don’t see the irony in the fact that they’re the first to bleat about being “silenced”.
What are libertarian and conservatives’ responses to being frozen out of mass media? Start a magazine; bust your ass building a talk-show audience; exploit computer technology to get your message across the Net.
What is the far Left’s response to being frozen out of the mass media? Wreck stuff.
Troglodytes.
Sorry about the rambling semi-incohernce, but man am I pissed.
...we can still tear down any institutions we feel the need to because the were built over the labor on our backs.
Well, that’s rather cheeky—since when did any of these slackers do any actual work?

The word you’re looking for is “Morlock” =^)
Posted by Spiny Norman on 2005 04 28 at 12:47 PM • permalinkSo they think that the CEO of the world-wide “Karl Rove Daily News” gets updates on vending machine status? That vending machine revenue is even an drop in the profits bucket to “corporate media?” If this sabotage happens—and I predict it won’t; this is too much like teenagers talking about how cool it would be to burn down the school—it will be a pain in the butt and the wallet to the folks who service the machines, and no more. Way to stick it to The Man, Indymedia!
Lord Rove is placing workers to monitor the secret security cameras as we speak.
Vandals may find themselves being followed by Elite Rovian Ninjas very soon.

(Sorry, insulting evil twin got loose again).
Dave, Rovian Ninjas are sweet and that’s a fact.
Posted by Joe Geoghegan on 2005 04 28 at 04:49 PM • permalinkOh, the irony. Let me get this right. The MSM hates George Bush and would like nothing better than to see Wolfowitz, Bolton, Cheney, and all the other evil neocons put on trial for crimes against humanity. And so what does Indy Media do? They try to screw with MSM.
Ok, this time there’s no doubt. This is a clever and cunning plot by Karl Rove.
And just why wasn’t I invited to the planning meeting? Never, never do I get invited to the planning meetings. What, like I’m not sinister enough? And for that matter, why does Andrea get to hold the Sword of Justice, lately used on Omar and dopey? I can cut and quarter trolls too. And why did Jeff Gannon get to fax the TAG memo to CBS? There’s a Kinkos just down the street from me.
Damn it, I’m as evil as any of you!

What the hell language is this written in?!
Posted by richard mcenroe on 2005 04 28 at 08:41 PM • permalinkMy understanding is that the usual US business model is for the newspaper vending machines to be a business concession for the route driver. They are, in short, hurting one of those who really does the labor which makes the corporate media possible. It is only the eventual drop in circulation which will accomplish their lofty goal, and this is a spectacularly bassackward way of achieving it.
These Tools of Corporate Oppression… does Sears make them?

If you tried selling papers like that here (OZ) people would pay for one and take the lot just because they are free. lol

Yep, it’s the honor system. Some people do take an extra copy or two, but not often. Depends on where you live (as does everything in the U.S.) I’m sure there are places without them. Here’s one that might blow your mind - where I live, vans will drop off loads of newspapers to unlocked boxes in front of stores during the night, for the store owner to bring into his shop when he opens. People who go to work before he opens will take a paper from the box and leave the money. I’ve seen several dollars laying on top of the pile of papers when I’ve bought mine. Gives you a warm feeling about people, it does.
“Rovian Ninjas totally flip out and kill people.”
I heard that this Rovian Ninja was eating at a diner and some dude dropped a spoon so the ninja killed the whole town. This other ninja totally uppercut some kid just because he opened a window.

Laura Ingraham is smoking, molten, habanero-spiced h-o-t. Not to mention funny and smart. Hope all goes well.
