SIEV X obsessive Tony Kevin—John Howard drowns refugees!—notes that Dark Victory authors David Marr and Marian Wilkinson have drifted towards his paranoid point of view:
The first edition of Dark Victory (2003) asserted flatly that, “Australia did not kill those who drowned on SIEV X but their deaths cannot be ruled out the reckoning entirely”. The second edition (2004) replaced this exonerating sentence with much more open-ended language.
Interesting.
What’s more disturbing is this “fiction spliced tightly with fact” that seems to be increasingly pushed as gospel truth by the tub-thumping chatterers on the Left.
In her bio Hannie Rayson is described as “award-winning” and “Australia’s foremost female playwright”.
Do any of the aforementioned plaudits come from outside the taxpayer-funded leftie yartz sewing circle?
Rayson also needs a lesson in geography.
If the SIEV X was sunk in the Java Sea how is it a victim of Howard’s so-called “Pacific Solution”?

His condescendingly schoolmarmish tone is bad enough and once you notice the two-fingers-and-a-thumb pointing gesture his frequent use of it can become more than irritating but it’s the never ending rudeness of his interruptions that really annoys me. Having listened to his twaddle I want to hear what the other fellow has to say but Marr just keeps interrupting, talking over the top, blathering on as he tries to bully anyone with an opposing viewpoint into silence. What an ugly little man he is.

I mean s/he oven intrudes just bitchin’ blather than offering the Royal Navy defrag pugwash - that she has been attacked by deaf boy Howler’s billowers”.[Is it my imagining or is this review - by Margo’s admittedly low standards - almost, sort of, ....balanced? I mean she even includes lefty critiques rather than offering the RN default position - that she has been attacked by only the most right wing of critics].

How predictable. The marginally less extreme left converging with the total loons as long as its a stick to beat Howard with.
Kevin’s views are classic conspriacy theorist. He began by asserting that the boat was unseaworthy and Australia was negligent (or worse) by not stopping it or rescuing it, but when that didn’t fly he changed to “it must have been sabotaged”. Why an unseaworthy boat would have to sabotaged is anyone’s guess. The thing guys like Kevin can’t stand is that the fears people had all along for people on these boats were proved horribly correct and justified the policy to discourage them.
