<< LABOR'S BIG JOKE ~ MAIN ~ FIRE, RAIN, BUSH BLAMED >>

TIME FOR REFLECTION

A 66-year-old Sydney man was allegedly murdered three days ago by an ecology-minded fellow who objected to his water use in a time of drought. Let’s check the forecast for the coming week:

Saturday: Rain periods. Chance of thunderstorms.

Sunday: Rain clearing in the morning. Chance of an early thunderstorm.

Monday: A few showers.

Tuesday: A few showers.

Wednesday: A few showers.

Thursday: A few showers.

Friday: A few showers.

Wherever the accused killer is being held, I hope he’s able to hear that rainfall, day after day. Chances are he won’t be able to feel it for a while.

  4. I think, from memory, that the accused man is actually not being held in custody. I could be very wrong, but I think he was released on bail based on some medical condition.

  5. #2 Rod C.Three months community service sounds like a cruel and inhuman punishment after all the amateur ecologist is said to have been effected by a cocktail of prescription drugs and a sore back. One might hope that in the circumstances an appropriate charge of common assault would only result in a nominal fine if indeed the charge can be sustained.

  6. It’s not unusual for it to rain on the rock, it’s just serendipitous for tourists to see it because it’s not a regular seasonal thing to happen. The photos in The Australian are great, a mauve rock with water running down it in rivulets.

Ayres Rock receives an average of 12 inches of rain per year. It usually falls in a very short period of time.

The rain that does fall is very unpredictable. Rain can fall any time in the year. Sometimes rain falls in winter when low pressure troughs moving across southern Australia extend north to Uluru to produce cold weather and occasional widespread rain. More rain falls in summer. This is usually from tropical depressions or ex-cyclones that have petered out after crossing the northern Australian coastline.

Like his anus, after a month in prison.

Or like the victims of crime in Victoria, when they have been through the criminal justice system.

  9. Gee, I hope the damp weather doesn’t cause his ‘bad back’ to act up!

  10. Speaking of rain, Tim, the northern part of the state of Georgia could use your help.  We’re in the middle of a bit of a drought right now.  Could you possibly give Tim Flannery a poke and prod him into predicting that north Georgia dams will be empty by next spring (which is looking like a possibility at this point in time)?  That way we would be assured of an abundance of rain in the coming months.  Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

  11. How can a person with four dodgy pins in his spine, on a cocktail of drugs, in intense pain, kick a healthy person to death?

    Someone’s telling porkies.

  12. According to the article, the man actually died of a massive heart attack, most likely brought on by the assault.  It’s the only thing that will save the nonviolent greenie from a manslaughter charge, but in my view, it shouldn’t be an excuse.

    Absolutlely agree with you RebeccaH.

The man would not have had the heart attack if he wasn’t attacked, so how can that be a mtigating circumstance.
A bit like the bouncers that get off because they hit someone, but the blow doesn’t kill, the head hitting the pavement does. Tell me… if the victim hadn’t been hit would his head have hit the pavement?

    It’s a bloody circus!

  14. Was the murderer hydrophobic or hydrophillic?
Was he part of a Save The Rain campaign or the Stop The Rain
