THESE PEOPLE ARE INSANE
Muslim honour killings are so commonplace in the UK that a specialist force has been assembled to combat them:
A team of 20 prosecutors are to be based in London, the West Midlands, West Yorkshire and Lancashire. Each one will be trained by a number of different agencies including the police, the government’s forced marriage unit and the independent victims group, the Southall Black Sisters ...
Nazir Afzal, the CPS lead on honour-based violence, said that such crimes are often elaborate, pre-planned and can involve many suspects.
One in nine honour killings in the UK is carried out by hit men, he said. It is also common for the youngest member of the family to carry out the murder, with the others playing a lesser role.
Consider that statistic. It doesn’t refer to a total of nine honour killings, which would be horrific enough in a first-world nation; it refers only to a particular proportion. Total figures are massively worse:
Home Office statistics suggest that there are 12 such murders each year. However, according to research, the true figure is much higher. At a conference in Southampton last week, police chiefs revealed that they are re-examining 2,000 deaths and murders between 1996 and 2006 to establish whether they involve honour killings. So far, 19 have now been found to be honour killings. A further 20 involved some element of “honour violence”.
Still, mustn’t denounce them.

UPDATE. Now the British provoke Muslim rage by awarding Salman Rushdie a knighthood:
Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said the decision to praise the “apostate” showed Islamophobia among British officials ...
Mr Hosseini told a press conference: “Giving a medal to someone who is among the most detested figures in the Islamic community is ... a blatant example of the anti-Islamism of senior British officials.
“The measure that has taken place for paying tribute to this apostate and detested figure will definitely put British statesmen and officials at odds with Islamic societies, the emotions and sentiments of which have again been provoked.”
They think they’re in charge. Hey, maybe soon they will be.
UPDATE. Laban at UK Commentators: “I read this Iowahawk piece and thought it was well over the top - a crude caricature of white liberal grovelling to Islam. Then I read the original, by Time Out Editor-at-large Michael Hodges. Blimey.”
It is so easy to cherry pick a few bad things in other cultures and ‘play them up’. The delicious cuisines and great views in many countries of origin are too easily overlooked, I think.
Look in our backyard? Oh, no. Cruelty to our ‘own’ daughters is rife and widely ignored. How easy to demonise the ‘other’ when the practice of banning handphone use is causing so much suffering.

Who? The Muslims? The British? All of ‘em?

Isn’t that what Hamass is saying about Arafat’s Peace Prize, too?

These men are not killing their female relatives to preserve their honour, but out of a psychotic need for possession and control.
At least our “honor” killings usually don’t involve innocent and helpless women.
Thanks, paco. /sarc Now I feel like having onion rings.

Boo-hoo. I would have topped off the knighting ceremony by burning the Qu’ran to make incense.

All members of a family found to have carried out or supported the killing of one of its members to save the family’s “honour” (of which it actually has none) should be stripped of their citizenship and immediately deported.
According to The Guardian article, “One in nine honour killings in the UK is carried out by hit men, he said. It is also common for the youngest member of the family to carry out the murder, with the others playing a lesser role”.
How outrageous and disgusting is that? Is the youngest considered the most malleable?
#9, Chris L. has it right: “These men are not killing their female relatives to preserve their honour, but out of a psychotic need for possession and control”.
#14,

I think the murder is carried out by the youngest male because the family reasons, if caught, he will get a lighter sentence because of his age and claiming he was cooerced by his elders.
This Guardian article refers to honour killing hotspots. I suppose that’s a description we can soon see on real estate ads?
I don’t know, next you’ll see them infiltrate Australian TV program “Home and Away” and they’ll have an Honour Killing on the program, and it will imply it’s ok.
Brad Armstrong could murder cat meat Cassie Turner who fell in love with hunk Jack Holden. It’s the new Australian economic way of life in our democratic free society.
Words Muslimists have ruined:

holy
religion

Seems to fit nicely, although they’re getting beyond even that. Perhaps we should work on composing a new word. Then again, by the time we do they’ll have moved past that too.
Oh, and yes. Cassie is carrot-girl.
But surely there are those people “on the ground” that are working, as we speak, to reason with these people to convince them that this is not a good idea! Maybe we can ask Mz Kim! I’m told that she keeps up with this sort of thing. Anyway, it isn’t a good idea to condemn something like this out of context. These dead girls were biased, you know, by their experience.

Those statistics are absolutely horrific.
I may disagree with the choices a member of my family makes, but I would never kill one of them.
