THE PRESS COUNCIL WILL HEAR ABOUT THIS

This site, March 26.

Media Watch, last night.

  1. So you ripped off Media Watch before they had even aired their story?  I hope the press council does hear about this time travel related outrage…

  2. If even the ABC is asking the odd question, maybe the gerbil worming hype is peaking.

  4. Tim, they rip off your site so much they should offer you the job of running media watch.  Think of the benefits:

(A)You’d actually get credit for some of the stuff they publish.
(B)Media Watch would actually do it’s job more than once in a blue moon…

  5. Sounds like Keith Windshuttle is doing the job Karl Rove sent him to the ABC to do.

  6. I think a Press Council spat between you and Media Watch would be hilarious. Fight!

  7. The new Rovian “Presenter And Commentator Organism” is working well. See no strange defects like those clunky Latham bots or, god forbid Margok models.

  8. Statement from Neil Breen (Editor of the Sunday Telegraph) to Media Watch

“Associated Press in their caption to us told us that the picture was taken of melting ice caps and to do with global warming and that it was sent to them by a Canadian ice agency and we had no reason to question it.”

Nope, the whole truthiness alarms were going berserk. ‘We want to believe’ Yep, not one reason to suspect that an animal that is perfectly adapted to it’s environment, and is an outstanding SWIMMER is susceptible to drowning.

  9. This is just a diversion.  This doesn’t tackle the AGW media hoax, it only points out a fake story about a fake setting.

This is very smart move on behalf of the left-wing media propagandists.  While they have done nothing to counter the AGW hoax, they`ve given themselves breathing space from critics.

  10. #9, I agree. Some commenters read more into this story but it seems to me that Mediawatch were just taking the chance to sink the boot into the Sunday Telegraph.

I bet this wouldn’t have run if the photo had only appeared in the SMH.

  11. #2 MarkL - agree, there are signs of (cerebral) life at the ABC.  This story might even be the result of some primitive critical thinking.

Tim should consider cutting them some slack to see if more signs show.

  13. Speaking of matters press, Le Monde has our dear Prime Minister enraging the Euroweenies by suggesting that they should meet their own Kyoto targets before telling Australia off for not signing up to the protocol.

After having a leader with common sense for so long, I wonder if we don’t take him for granted…

  15. The photograph represents polar bears standing on ice that’s melting…Now obviously there’s a disputed account of when that was taken now

Um, actually there’s no dispute at all when the photo was taken.

If you are foolish enough to actually listen to the person who actually took the photo, you goober Neil.

ABC Radio News only seemed to air the EU side of the argument, so much for Aunty’s “balance”.

  18. Howard ‘missing the point’ on EU Kyoto criticism

John Howard: will not take criticism from the EU when 12 of the 15 countries in the bloc have not met their emissions targets.

Peter Garrett: Cherry picking the individual progress of countries does not in any way take away ...

12 out of 15 takes away 80%, f*cktard ... let’s “cut through the maths” now, shall we?

  19. This John Howard criticising France thing could be the end of poor Adele Horin.

BTW I am astonished to discover that ‘horin has written yet another column this year about a friend from France and her conversations in a coffee shop.

    Kevin Rudd:
That will critically influence the way in which coal and carbon-based fuels are traded in the future ...
We need to be at that negotiating table and the way to be at that negotiating table is to ratify Kyoto.

Follow the EU’s hypocritical lead? ... such as Britain and France selling diesel gensets (and fuel) into Africa like hot cakes ... Blair’s power grid’s so dilapidated, it’s propped up with diesel gensets ...

  22. This surprises me.  Breeny is smarter than that.

I notice that Attard and the ABC sought out a News Ltd publication for their attack.  No doubt The Age and SMH ran the same photo, yet haven’t been called out on it.

  24. O/T ‘DAVID Hicks could be sent back to Guantanamo Bay to serve the rest of his seven years term if he breaches his pre-trial agreement by speaking to the media, his military lawyer says’

    Hicks could be sent back

wouldn’t it be perfect if after five years of bleating about Hicks the Abcess was responsible for getting him sent back to gitmo?

  29. #24 last night on lateline the attorney general stated that there is no equivalent gag law in Australia, so Hicks could not be extradited if he broke the gag agreement.  Effectively, the government could not enforce it.  The only thing they could do would be to take him to court for trying to profit from his story - the proceeds of crime.

Basically once he is Australia he can shoot his mouth off.
