SCORES RECITED

Douglas Wood going blind? Not so, says the man himself:

“Those stories were complete rubbish,” he said and then proceeded to recite the gridiron scores from a television 5m away at the Roundup Saloon near his home.

Good for him. Wonder who the unnamed family spokesman was who earlier claimed Wood “cannot see a hand under his nose” ...

  6. The Roundup Saloon!  The.  Roundup.  Saloon.  God, I love this man more and more and more!  The Roundup is this old biker bar in Lafayette, CA, that has slowly (but not completely) yuppified.  When my Dad was a kid, his parents forbade him from walking in front of the place.

  7. Diabetes, left untreated, does dreadful things to small blood vessels, like those in the eyes and toes; it seemed reasonable. Glad to hear the report was wrong.
