RUNNING AWAY FOR HIS BELIEFS
A letter from David Hicks to a former flatmate:
Don’t try to write about my adventures because you don’t know that information. Nobody does, so it would be inaccurate. I would prefer if you wrote nothing about anybody, for that matter. Shit, I would have no chance to make any money when I got home, otherwise.
Guantanamo Fats can give up on that little plan:
The plea deal ... also included a provision that he cannot profit from the eventual sale of his story; profits from any such sale are to go to the Australian government.
Doesn’t sound like he’d have much of a story to sell, in any case:
Major Mori says Hicks was a naive young man looking for battlefield experience after having been rejected for military service in Australia due to his only having an eighth grade education ...
Recounting how Hicks fled from advancing Northern Alliance forces for three days, Major Mori said, “the ‘wannabe’ finally got a real taste of it and he ran away”.
So much for him being a freedom fighter, as one fan wrote to Miranda Devine:
“Sort of like a William Wallace (aka Braveheart). Both fighting for what they believed passionately about against a superior foe ... Good on you David for standing up for your beliefs.”
Read Miranda’s whole column, in which SMH readers stand up for their beliefs:
“When you write such rubbish about Hicks it is a givaway [sic] that you are Jewish,” wrote Phil. “Only the Jews support what the United States does in the Middle East, because the Jews are an awful race that don’t give a damm [sic] about anyone but the ‘Chosen People’.”
Kevin began: “Birdbrain Devine, your diatribe regarding David Hicks reeks of ... pillow talk with your favourite Jewboy - one Col. Moe Davis - and, worse STILL, a yankee jewboy (scum of ALL scum) ... It IS the yankee jew who is responsible for EVERY conflict since WW2.”
See, this is why Sydney’s Earth Hour was such a flop; who wants to be in the dark with these types around?
Brave David Hicks ran away.
Bravely ran away, away!
When danger reared its ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave David Hicks turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.
Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat,
Bravest of the brave, David Hicks! He is packing it in and packing it up
And sneaking away and buggering up
And chickening out and pissing off home,
Yes, bravely he is throwing in the sponge…- with apologies to Monty Python
Being a freedom fighter is no fun at all when the other side is free to shoot back…

Hicks needs to wait a few years before he writes his memoirs. That way he can come up with all sorts of stories that no one will bother to check up on. Who knows, in a few years he may even “recall” having spent Christmas eve in Cambodia!“Imagine Florida, Louisiana and Georgia as one state.”
Why that would be a utopia.
Imagine, the cleanliness of Louisiana politicians, the sanity of Florida’s populace, and governed by men of such stature as former Georgia governor Jimmah Carter.
Where do I buy my ticker.

...the sanity of Florida’s populace…
Hey! Who’s calling us sane?

Posted by richard mcenroe on 2007 03 31 at 09:12 PM • permalinkMajor Mori suggested on ABC news this morning that Hicks should consider future opportunities upon his release, including studying for a university degree. In what? Mid-east studies? Hicks dropped out of high school aged 14! He later joined al-Quaida. Do these facts send a message about his IQ? Next Mori will be suggesting Australia set up a tuition fund.

Hicks will go into academia and study skanky uni hos.
He will have more groupies than Kiss and all stopes will be pulled to make a “success” of him. Saw it at detention centres, within a day it would be long skirts and no undies in the visits yard for the uni girl visitors. Never failed.Posted by thefrollickingmole on 2007 03 31 at 11:34 PM • permalinkfrollickingmole,
You’re spot-on. In my past life as a journo I knew two female reporters who did that very thing during jail-sanctioned interview visits. One did it with an inmate who murdered a mother and her two children, and personally threatened me while I was reporting on his case in court. Thanks to our education system of the past 20 years, uni girls are even sillier. Anyone in prison is necessarily a victim of the war against authority, except that in reality they’re armed robbers, murderers, rapists, serial assaulters, habitual burglars, drug dealers and, yes, terrorists. So like Chopper, Dawood can look forward to a long future of free rides.
#19 mareeS.Dropping out of school at 14 and being posessed of a double digit IQ shouldn’t impede Davie’s future prospects. Those qualifications probably aren’t that much different to those of our greatest(in his own opinion) Prime Minister and he never had the opportunity of joining al-Quaida.With nothing more than an Intermediate Certificate in his knapsack and a natural talent for lying and Branch stacking he demonstrated how easy it can be to achieve power and wealth, particularly wealth, way beyond the wildest dreams of your average Bankstown boy.Davie’s first move once he gets out of Yatala should be to join the ALP and he’ll be on his way.
Devine’s fan mail shows that Jew-hating is a trait of the left, not the right. Once thought extreme politics was a circular thing - the extreme right and the extreme left were essentially the same thing (Hitler=Stalin). But now I’m convinced that Hitler and Stalin were at the same end of the political spectrum - the left. The extreme right is those who believe humans are a commodity to be traded and enslaved.
Maybe he can get some sort of Arts grant?

Dear God! At least the anti-Semitic lefties here try to preserve the illusion that they don’t hate Jews.
