RODENT LIFESTYLE ENFORCED

Three guinea pig militants have been jailed for 12 years each following grave-robbing convictions:

The militants, including a vicar’s son and a psychiatric nurse, led what they called a “holocaust” against a farm which bred guinea pigs for medical research.

They’ll probably be out in five years. Still, that’s a life sentence for a guinea pig.

  1. The militants, including a vicar’s son and a psychiatric nurse . . .. Naturally.

I think they ought to be kept in a big glass terrarium, and forced to run on one of those wheels for exercise.

  2. Look at the ages on those people.  And their ‘histories’.  I’m sorry, but 36 is a bit long in the tooth to still be whining about being bullied as a child.

Next time you see animal rights activists portrayed as vibrant, committed young people, remember this collection of aging, loser nonentities scrabbling for some significance to their meaningless lives.

  3. Three animal rights extremists involved in the theft of the body of an elderly woman from her grave were yesterday jailed for 12 years each in what is seen by police and prosecutors as a groundbreaking case.

Grave robbers involved in a “groundbreaking case”

Well, duh! How else would you do it?

  4. Paco,

Perhaps we could spare a few g.piggies and use them for experiments. That should make ‘em happy.

  5. We had to destroy the guinea pigs in order to save them.

  6. #4 Monroe Doctrine: M’yes. Preferably experiments involving the development of new laxatives.

But they should look on the bright side; in guinea pig years, they’re only serving, what, about 10 months?

  7. Wow. Sociopaths and misfits looking for a place to belong find a nutjob fringe group with a ridiculous and criminal mission statement.

It’s like a religion, you know the one I’m talking about, the one that preaches peace, love and tolerance. Come on, help me out here. They’ve got a normal side to them, the normal tolerant and peace loving side that would never, ever do anything to aid the lunatic fringe. It’s on the tip of my tongue…

  8. The following paragraph appears near the end of the article:

Darley Oaks farm was forced to shut in January. Christopher Hall, one of the principal owners, said his family had felt “under siege” for years.

    Damn. Just damn.

  9. I had read about these thugs before. In addition to grave robbing, add vandalism, arson. paint stripper on cars ect….

Just shoot a few of these people and take the fun out of being a 40 year old teenager.

  10. We’re all doomed!  The terrotists have the animal kingdom on their side.  It was noted that they were

helped by a mole in the DVLA

.  Next it will be our cats and dogs.  I noticed the other day that the goldfish seemed to be taking notes while I ate a cheeseburger.

  11. ...take the fun out of being a 40 year old teenager.

Y’know, for many of these “activists”, that’s what it’s all about.  Having fun, poking at the system, making a difference.  I like having fun, too.  I poke at the system.  I try to make a difference.

But I don’t act like an irresponsibile teenager in the process.  These characters weren’t getting the results they wanted, so they stepped up their campaign.  Much like a child throwing a tantrum.

Except that tantrums don’t culiminate in grave descration and conviction.  Or, in the case of “The Religion of Peace”, murder.

  12. Love the biographical sketches:

    Jon Ablewhite
    Age: 36
    12 years’ jail

Son of a vicar. Studied social history and English at university. Worked with people with disabilities and as a peace activist. Won the title of “supply teacher of the year”. Previously jailed for attack on the house of a brother of the MD of Huntingdon Life Sciences.

    Kerry Whitburn
    Age: 36
    12 years’ jail

Had a troubled upbringing and was bullied as a youngster. Left school aged 16 and became a petty criminal before qualifying as a psychiatric nurse. Previous convictions connected to his activism include harassment, criminal damage and public order offences.

What, pray tell, is a “supply teacher”? And isn’t it nice that in Britain high school drop-outs with criminal records can still qualify as psychiatric nurses. ‘Course that might help explain what’s going on in St. Albans.

Do 40-year old teenagers think “work” is a four letter word?

  13. We should shoot them, and then have pie.

It makes as much sense as graverobbing and years of dangerous harassment for the salvation of guinea pigs.

  14. Kyda, a supply teacher is a fill-in teacher for an absent member of staff. Usually telephoned at home around 8am by a desperate deputy principal who would have to take the absent teacher’s class him/herself if a supply teacher can’t be found.

  15. Thanks, quillpen. That’s “substitute” teacher across the pond.

  16. Supply teacher.  Relief teacher.  Substitute teacher.

You know, since my husband and I retired, we’ve done that.  He still does it, but I had to quit when I realized I’d rather strangle the little bastards than babysit them.  In my opinion, schools (second, after the absence of parents) are teaching the little darlings to be animal rights activists, “environmentalists”, and serial killers.

  20. Yum! Guinea pig!
In the Andes, they eat them like we eat rabbits. They keep them in the house and feed them, and when there is a need for meat, voila, they kill the small ones and keep the breeding female….and you know what? They actually taste like Pork…
