QUOTE HUNT COMMENCES
John Doyle’s Andrew Olle lecture, delivered a few months ago, began with this claim:
It was during the bombing of Baghdad that I reeled in shock, awe and disbelief when I saw Fox news coverage. Two immaculately dressed presenters were genuinely excited by the pictures they were seeing. One of them shouted ‘I want to see the Moab! [The mother of all bombs.] Bring on the Moab!’
This sounds unlikely. Perhaps Scott Norvell or someone else with Fox connections could search the network’s coverage for these quotes. An earlier item on Doyle’s speech is here.
UPDATE. Quotes found! It may have been a Fox guest, rather than a presenter, who made similar comments to those cited by Doyle:
‘I want to see them use that MOAB. We all want to see them use that MOAB.’
(Much thanks to Z-score)
Big sigh you know noone he talk me .Maybe I go Bye Bye.Stil you know Lebs get a good fuckin pastin at Cronulla.Bloody mofo hey?Hey how come all atime leb boy be bastard cool hey? some time aussie boy saay get fuck rascist arse wipe. him be rascist dipstick cum along big stick man say move along white boy what that hey .You know suck own dick make neck hurt .hey
This non-entity JDAndrews is a bloody liar. During that period I obsessively watched Fox News (the only channel you could get reasonable coverage and comments on the bombing) and what I could not watch I taped. No such comment was made. We have here another Momma Sheehan type who will concoct anything to get some attention. In any event, one might be disgusted should such a comment have been made, but to “REEL IN SHOCK”, give me a break. How about reeling your little pathetic feelies in shock at John Kerry’s comments that American troops are thugs who invade innocent Iraqui’s bedrooms at night and scare the piss out of little children. After all, this is a man who ran for President (and Commander in Chief) of the USA, not some anonymous twit in a TV station.
Hate to hang around, but I must tell Z-Sore that I reeled in disbelief at the disturbance he/she felt at the laughter provoked by the comment on MOAB. Let me disturb you more by letting you know that I cheered lustily at the bombing of this madman’s domain knowing that, in the end, it would save lives all over the world, but especially those of the Iraquis. The 8 million Iraquis who showed up to vote, I venture, did so also at the time. There must be something better for you to disturbed by than the emotional outbursts of an individual during a war, like the Genocide in Darfur which no lefty has noticed, or the Oil-for-Food Scandal, or the beheadings of innocents by the Islamofascists, or the murder of 3000 Americans on 9/11 (did it disturb you to see the Palestinians dancing in the streets in celebration of this event, and giving their children candies so that it would reinforce their memories of this outrage), etc. etc. I suppose none of these disturb your sensibilities more than the outburst of some Fox News Guest. Hey, get a life!
MOAB does not stand for ‘mother of all bombs’, it stands for ‘massive ordnance air burst’. Whoever wrote the words in square brackets in your Doyle quotation is therefore an idiot.
The name also has nothing to do with the Biblical Moabites, though that didn’t prevent the mayor of Moab, Utah from complaining about it.

That’s better than the attitude of the morally obtuse Mike Wallace, who infamously claimed that, if he had advance knowledge, he wouldn’t warn an American patrol of an ambush. One doesn’t have to maintain a pretentious neutrality toward the ultimate outcome of a conflict in order to be factually correct.
He reeled in shoc? So are we to assume he watches Fox news standing up? That’s brand loyalty for you!

But don’t mention Clinton.

On a practical level, had one (or two) of these puppies been deployed upon some Saddam Palace compound it would have gone a long way toward sucking the air, so to speak, out of the regime that brought the Anfal Campaign to the world.
Could the Bushitlerburton’s have been concerned with the risk of civilian collateral damage perhapse?
To this date no nation has spent more blood and treasure to protect innocent muslims from themselves and others than the Anglo-Christian Coalition of the Willing.
Lefties/Islamists can screech/preach all they want but they’ll never truly bury that observable reality.

It really doesn’t matter whether they did or did not say it, or whether they were, in fact, there at all.
The audience would have believed it could happen, and Doyle is, after all, a writer of ABC sponsored drama.
It may be fake, but accurate.
