Hugo Chavez blames capitalism:
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has blamed global capitalism for earthquakes hitting India, Pakistan and Afghanistan as well as for mudslides that have struck Central America and Mexico.
On his weekly radio and television call-in program, “Hello, Mr. President,” Mr Chavez said these catastrophes were nature’s answer to the “world global capitalist model”.
“This model is destroying the world. The world is in danger. Never has there been such disasters, hurricanes, droughts, torrential rains. Incredible! The world is dangerously off balance,” he said.
Well, if global capitalism caused the earthquake, I guess global capitalism can take credit for this, too:
Training camps used by jihadists battling with the Indian army for control of Kashmir were buried by landslides or left in ruins by the earthquake, bringing hope of a new opportunity for peace-making after a 16-year Islamic insurgency.
In other earthquake news, Australia has upped its aid contribution to $5.5 million. Private donations (through Australian agencies) may be made via sources listed here. Don’t give a cent to those Smurf-hating bastards at Unicef, please.
Pfft. That’s rich coming from a man who buttresses his oppressive regime with pollution-spreading petrodollars.

I realise this publication is not a favourite of RWDBs but nevertheless I do think its worth a scan
Chavez is a loon of the first order. This type of crap is just as nuts coming Chavez as it is from the drooling Islamo-loons.

Speaking of which, wasn’t there an article a month or so ago that mentioned that scientists have noted tremors that moved from one point on the Earth’s surface, through the mantle and core, to another point on the surface, within seconds? The article explained that scientists conjectured that Earth might have made contact with a space string of immense density.
What does that sound like to you? Well, I’ll tell you. Halliburton.

I wonder if we’ll see that in this case, too?

If not for the oil, Chavez would be just another has-been general from the coup-of-the-month club. His increasingly strong ties with Castro are particularly worrisome, and the U.S. had better start paying more attention to both the short-term and long-term impact of the consolidation by Chavez of nearly complete political power, not only because of what this means for energy prices, but because of the capacity for radical mayhem that the Chavez regime possesses and could unleash in neighboring countries (especially in Colombia, which is having enough trouble as it is fighting narcotraficantes and leftist guerillas).
Suddenly Pat Robert’s suggestion that we off the commie bastard (Chavez) doesn’t seem too far out of line.

The BBC type dutifully listened and sincerely hoped that that would be one of the important changes to come out of the disaster.
No blaming Pres. Musharaff for them!In *every way* a 180 degree change of tone and emphasis to the BBC’s handling of the New Orleans’ hurricane.

Chavez strikes me as just plain nuts. His country’s oil wealth allows him to strut about for the moment.
I sense though that Venezuelans will tire of his daffy leftoid antics and he’ll eventually be deposed.
