My own favorites musically are Bottle and Owed to Autumn, but I like the Australian folk/bluegrass style ; humorously perhaps the best is Precious Vote, though you get a chuckle from a lot of them.

Wildly costly even given it’s Australian dollars.  I guess you’re paying for the booklet too, it’s more than your usual insert.

I’m not surprised the Muslims banned MAthias.
The subject of the Fusion of Nazi Ideology with Modern day Islamic extremism is a scandal and has been subjudice for too long. The arabs took to Mr Hitler like a duck to water and it was’nt just the Antisemitism they had in common.
Don’t forget that it was the Nazis after WW2 who published and translated and published Mein kampf (MY Jihad) and “the Protocols” into Arabic.
Much as Bill Clinton, Albright etc, used and financed jihadists to fight by Proxy against Serbia in Kosovo and Bosnia, (two of which turned out to be 911 bombers) through the Pakistan ISI,the OSS and the British sent EX Nazi SS to Egypt to assist them in militarising in the war against Israel.

-Is Alonso going to be able to keep winning in a McLaren?  (Given McLaren’s less than stellar reliability, I’m going to guess he’ll win a few races and contend for the championship, but he probably won’t run away with it.)

-How many engines is Kimi Raikkonen going to blow up this year? (I say four.)

-How much angst will there be among the Tifosi having to support Ferrari, but at the same time really not being able to stand Kimi?

-With Michael Schumacher gone, who’s going to be the next dominant driver in the series?
(I don’t think it will be any of the current drivers.)

The Victorian Government, which proclaims it is cleanest and greenest, is pleased at a proposal to cut off-peak tolls on Melbourne’s expressways so that more cars will use the roads in these times.

The Victorian Government keeps creating barriers to the aerial baiting of wild dogs. The greenies in the government fear the spotted quolls (I kid you not, non-Aussies) will eat the baits and die. In the meantime, the wild dogs continue to feast on fresh spotted quoll meat.

The Labor party wants the high price of fuel to be decreased by cutting the tax component. They also want people to use less petrol. Petrol consumption and price are linked - people use less when the price is high. The Labor party has yet to explain how it will make petrol cheaper and cut consumption at the same time. It exposes another Labor party problem - if it cannot understand the basic laws of supply and demand, how can it expect to run an economy.

“seppo” is derived from rhyming slang.

“Yank” rhymes with “septic tank”, which was then shortened to “septic”, then became “seppo”

Do you know what a septic tank is?

It’s our local colloqialism for Americans.

  183. Hallelujah for the open thread!

    I’m surprised, though . . . over 150 posts and nobody’s gotten e-drunk yet? Tsk, tsk.

Well, here’s a little something for amusement value. I don’t know if it’s been posted here before, but if it has, it deserves to be posted again. Sonetka’s Mom pointed me towards it-- thanks, Mom.

Finite Simple Group of Order Two Behold, the world’s best mathematical love song since . . . hell, I can’t think of any bad math jokes. Have fun.

Heard why gorillas shave their legs?

Naaah, you don’t boil them. If they are like pigs you dip them in a 44 at 40 degrees and scrape the hair off…

‘course, you gotta be epilating a little gorilla.

Sorry for the use of the ungamely subjunctive there.

  193. From #9 Dylan.  That lady is stomne cold nuts.  The missing front teeth are a nice touch as well.

I also laughed that the victims were treated at the hospital for exposure to boric acid.  Its used for eyewash.  Harmless.  It doesn’t even warm the planet.

So dippy deranged broad is going to do double time for throwing a harmless substance on her black neighbors.

Anyone who says America has the best justice system in the world is on crack.

  198. #156 Egg, come on use your logic.

Of course there can be more than ONE half. There can be two halves, three halves; as many halves as you dream of.

Let’s say I cut an elephant in half, longitudinally so that the halves would be symmetric. If I werer to cut many elephants in half in a similar fashion, I would have twice as many elephant halves. And, if they were youngsters, I would have twice as many elephant calf halves

Lees may have had the looks, but was a crap witness for the prosecution, with many inconsistencies in her testimony (esp. [no] opening between ute cabin and back tray ...)
