OBAMA TO WIN ... UNLESS SOMETHING CHANGES

Obama has Obamentum:

Sen. Barack Obama swept to solid victories over Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in Louisiana, Nebraska and Washington state yesterday, an impressive showing that left the two Democrats in a virtual tie for national delegates but with Obama gaining momentum ...

“We won in Louisiana, we won in Nebraska, we won in Washington State,” [Obama] said. “We won north, we won south, we won in between, and I believe we can win Virginia on Tuesday if you’re ready to stand for change.”

It would be a change if Obama quit mentioning change. It’s the one constant in every Obama speech.

UPDATE. A bizarre Spiegel interview with American writer Philip Roth, during which the question is asked (not for the first time): “Is Obama black enough?”

SPIEGEL: What made you interested in Obama?

Roth: I’m interested in the fact that he’s black. I feel the race issue in this country is more important than the feminist issue. I think that the importance to blacks would be tremendous. He’s an attractive man, he’s smart, he happens to be tremendously articulate. His position in the Democratic Party is more or less okay with me. And I think it would be important to American blacks if he became president ...

SPIEGEL: Is Barack Obama black enough?

Roth: I know this discussion goes on, but I think it will disappear if he gets the nomination. The reality of his running will wash that away. Anybody who’s half white and half black is considered black anyway. That’s one drop of blood.

SPIEGEL: For whites to consider him black, yes. But the question is whether the blacks consider him black.

Roth: They will once the election goes on. If he gets the nomination.

They will, will they? Roth seems a slightly condescending fellow.

UPDATE II. Hillary’s impersonation of someone displaying emotion didn’t work.

  33. #29 Jonah Goldberg (via The Anchoress) has an interesting take:

    Substance over Nothing and more.

First, look at the Democrats. Listen to the discussion about their strategies. Hillary needs to win more blacks and men. Obama must capture more Hispanics and peel away more white women. Both need to fight for “the youth.”

Now look at the Republicans and how we talk about them. Can McCain win over conservatives? Should he apologize for his support of amnesty or his opposition to tax cuts? Can Romney convince pro-lifers? Will Huckabee ever make inroads with economic conservatives? Were Rudy’s positions on gays, guns, and abortion too liberal?

See what I’m getting at? If substance were water, the Democratic campaign would be a desert.

  36. Re #29, MM, you are spot on; the Dhimmicrats have taken Martin Luther King’s entire purpose, for which he died, and flushed it down the toilet.

Worse still, the Dhimmicrats are pandering to get those votes.  They are encouraging racism.  And sexism.  Not that this is any revelation, mind you, but is certainly worth repeating.

I wish we could hook up a generator to MLK; he’s spinning so hard in his grave that he’s a valuable energy source.

Re #33, C.L., Jonah can be a tedious writer, but he is the hammer on the nail for this one.  The Democrats are, as he says “...a mere hodgepodge of ethnicities and genders”.  Their “issues” are center on “Who do we pander next, and how?”

I’m not ecstatic about the current Republican leadership (the primary reason why I’ve donated very little [thus far] towards the GOP this election season), but at least they look at the problems.  Even the current furor over McCain is on issues, not the fact that he is an old white man (and, yes, that has been brought up….and ignored).

But back on topic, more or less….

If the Democrats give the nod to The Messiah™, I’m not convinced that he will win.  Right now, he’s running what amounts to a religious revival, based on his charm, eloquence, and race (even if he doesn’t bring it up, his supporters do).  But that campaign is focused on that segment of the population which believes in form over function, i.e., the left side of the political spectrum.

But right now, he’s running against Hillary Rodham Clinton, who is little different than him (as Jonah Goldberg points out in C.L.‘s link).  The contrast isn’t immediately obvious, but it will be when The Messiah™ goes up against McCain.  Experience will make a big difference.

Hillary?  It’s still possible that she gets the nod from the DNC, as much as they want to avoid a brokered convention.  The Glacier™ wants to be President badly; it’s an obvious lust for power.  But her inexperience problem is only slightly better than what plagues Obama.

And, either way, it won’t be a pretty general election.  The Dhimmicrats will not pull any punches, especially after they dorked up this Congressional session.  Count on it.  They have to win, else fall apart from within.

What I’m really looking forward to, though, is the possibility of watching the public meltdown of the Clinton Machine.  If Billary loses against Obama or against McCain, that will happen.

Which would be a good thing, ‘cuz I’m not looking forward towards see the inauguration of President Chelsea Clinton.

Seems to me it’s just the One-Drop Rule. While the rule originally was conceived 150 years ago or so to keep blacks segregated in social and economic ghettos, now it’s used to keep guys like Obama and Tiger Woods in political and ideological ones.
