NYT SILENCES DISSENT
The dangerous dissemination of left wing thought on the internet has been sharply reduced—thanks to the New York Times! The folks at Brooklyn’s Vox Pop cafe will be distraught.
UPDATE. The Melbourne Age, which already violated the NYT’s TimeSelect policy by publishing online a Bob Herbert column (the Times subsequently “contacted the client to ask that this not happen again”) has done it again, this time publishing Maureen Dowd.
Vox Pop has a small publishing company, Drench Kiss, that operates out of its basement.
Drench Kiss?
Hicks does not like the term “conspiracy theory” because, he says, “That assumes it’s wrong or not credible.”
Why on earth wouldn’t people think they’re credible? They’re just alternative:
“I think there is a wealth of alternative knowledge out there that the American people are being kept away from,” he told me.
See?
Around the corner and a million miles away from the yuppie leftists of Vox Pop, Coney Island Avenue hosts a large Pakistani community. It would seem to have little in common with the cafe — until you get people talking.
Men gathered at the Subhan restaurant don’t hesitate to say 9/11 is a government-sponsored atrocity.
I wish I could say I was surprised. I really do.
The NYT is doing us all such a huge favor, it’s astonishing when an institution takes such a significant, active step to make itself even less relevant when they are already in decline. Someday this will be a great MBA case.

If Bill Clinton had made comparable appointments, would MoDo be saying this?
Would MoDo consider herself insufficiently qualified for any of these positions? Is Modo qualified for the job she has now? Of course, that job has been redefined as carnival freak (Fifty bucks to see the funny lady!) but still…

And now he has nominated his White House counsel and former personal lawyer, Harriet Miers, to a crucial swing spot on the Supreme Court. The stolid Texan, called “Harry” by some old friends, is a bachelorette who was known for working long hours, sometimes 16-hour days, and was a frequent guest at Camp.
Wow-how many double entendres can you cram in one sentence?Note from Rove:
Next available male of the species who happens to read this note-
You MUST appease Mo Do ASAP, extra points for creativity.
Prize: To be announced.
PS- This could be a chance for wron wright to redeem himself or for paco “the monk” to prove he has the right, erh “stuff”.

“What is is about Bush and unmarried women? Condi Rice is unmarried. Harriet Miers is unmarried. Heck, he even chose an unmarried woman to wed!”

Posted by The_Real_JeffS on 2005 10 06 at 01:10 PM • permalinkAnd the punishment for improperly publishing Herbert’s and Dowd’s column is being forced to read the damned things.
Cruel and unusual, perhaps?
Too bad, us rightwing theocrats are running things right now, pardner.

A case of social Darwinism if ever there was one. Keep up the good work, NYT!
