NYC CLAIMS ANOTHER

Australian country singer Smoky Dawson once toured the US, starring in a Broadway show with live kangaroos. Now he is dead.

What is it about New York?

(Via MM; also, Pickles notices this: “When authorities acted on the abuse, Smoky was put in St Vincent’s orphanage in South Melbourne.” Stolen Smoky!)

  3. It was almost certainly due to the high levels of Dihydrogen Monoxide in New York.

Such a shame, yet the authorities refuse to do anything about it.

  4. Dan, wasn’t dihydrogen monoxide the problem in NO? I know they called it “Katrina”, but, y’know…

  5. Horse-breeder Peter Ryan stuffed a first pipe for him, dark tobacco and a hank of horse hair. Smoky was sick for a week, never smoked again but had a better name for showbiz.

Yet it will still be recorded as a smoking related death.

  6. Recall Smoky’s bird calls and other impressions on Ch. 9’s breaky cartoon show The Super Flying Fun Show hosted by the hot Miss Mariyln with Marty & Emu ...

  7. I always worried about Smoky and Jingles spending so much time out on the range together.

  8. There’s certainly something about the Big Apple.  Why even Mayor Bloomberg is in on the act.

To the UN General Assembly he said, “Terrorists kill people. Weapons of mass destruction have the potential to kill an enormous amount of people, but global warming in the long term has the potential to kill everybody.”

How enlightening .. sure no doubt about it .. that’s it .. Everybody!

Yes, there definitely is something about New York.  Now what’s the name of the senator there again?

  9. I don’t want to alarm anyone but it appears that roughly 99.99% of all people who lived in,passed through,or even just heard of New York City prior to 1900 is now dead

Michael Moore has an apartment in NY.

I saw him on TV swatting biplanes from it.

  14. #8 Bloomberg is right.  I expect to be dead in about 45 years and the climate will probably have changed in that time, ergo climate change caused my death.

In the meantime, if I do pop my clogs early then Mrs Razor, Razorette and Junior Razor get a few mill in insurance.  I am very nice to Mrs Razor.

  15. Can someone encourage Michael Moore to spend a bit more time in New York. That might speed things up.

  16. Did you know that people living in New York at the moment can’t be buried there?

    "Why not?” you ask.

    Because they’re not dead yet

    Boom boom.

  19. Being removed should have ruined Smoky’s life. Why did it not? Enquiring minds need input.

  20. Back to topic (somewhat.)
All I know is my father was so respectful and spoke so highly of “Smoky”.
Dad was awarded an AM in his own right some years back , met various infuential people , politicians etc, at national level, and this was never considered worthy of being raised in our conversations , but he was like a starstruck teenager ,so quick was he to tell me just after he met ‘Smoky”. My dad as a 70 year old man was clearly thrilled that he got various parephenalia signed by the legendary “Smoky Dawson” .
Us younger people don’t quite understand the place Smoky had in the world of our forebears.
PS Fancy the genes for longevity that Smoky and his wife threw to his offspring. He was 95 when he said goodbye , and his wife is 101 and still kicking !
