NORGS SHUN AWARENESS-RAISER
“Who else should Al Gore share the prize with?” asks Iain Murray. “How about that well known peace campaigner Osama Bin Laden, who implicitly endorsed Gore’s stance - and that of the Nobel committee - in his September rant from the cave ...”:
[T]he life of all mankind is in danger because of global warming resulting to a large degree from the emissions of the factories of the major corporations; yet despite that, the representative of these corporations in the White House insists on not observing the Kyoto accord, with the knowledge that the statistics speak of the death and displacement of millions of human beings because of global warming, especially in Africa.
Given bin Laden’s impressive (and successful) record of raising global warming awareness, there’s no reason at all why he shouldn’t have been honoured. No reason except ... Islamophobia.

Razor, commenting over at Lav Paper, says it all:
“At least they are consistent. The Goracle will do as much for Peace as Arafat ever did.
Why stop at one? Why not give him all of them - Medicine, literature, economics. . . the lot! He’s done as much for all the other catergories as he has for Peace”
Over at spiked Frank Furedi has a nice little piece on Gore and the Nobel that’s worth a look.
After centuries of Western enlightenment, inventiveness, and prosperity, only Islam remains as the flickering shadow, the dark nihilistic glimmer of hope that can provide the backward conditions necessary to save the planet in this current emergency.
Islamopobia is the failure to recognise such a simple truth.
Nice article, Burbank. It goes a long ways towards explaining the insanity of the Nobel Committee.

I give a lot of thought to how this happened, how they came to have enough power to even have a place at the table when, in better times, they would have been nothing more than “fussy old hypochrondriac(s) sitting in a wicker wheel chair, covered in blankets, and knocking back placebos.”

nobel peace prize lost it for me when they gave it to a terrorist. now this. joke becomes a farce. It is sad for the previous deserving recipients, to have their award so degraded.
Al Gore and the IPCC peacemakers - insane.
