NO THREAT POSED
Associated Press reports:
Three people were arrested and one other was being sought Saturday in connection to a plan to set off explosives in a fuel line that feeds John F. Kennedy International Airport and runs through residential neighborhoods, officials close to the investigation said ...
The plot posed no threat to air safety or the public, the FBI said Saturday.
Certain residents in certain neighbourhoods may disagree. The arrested men are described as “Guyanese” and “in Trinidad”, but it won’t be a surprise if future reports indicate their adherance to extremist Presbyterianism; possibly they are Presbyterianists, as Andrew Sullivan might render the term. AP’s account includes these underreported incidents:
A year ago, seven men were arrested in what officials called the early stages of a plot to blow up the Sears Tower in Chicago and destroy FBI offices and other buildings.
A month later, authorities broke up a plot to bomb underwater New York City train tunnels to flood lower Manhattan.
And six people were arrested a month ago in an alleged plot to unleash a bloody rampage on Fort Dix in New Jersey.

The plot was to blow up a major fuel line that led to massive fuel tanks. And the FBI says with a straight face that it posed no threat to . . . well, anyone apparently. Presbyterianists in the ranks?
Ran their press statement past CAIR, I would guess.

One of the alleged plotters, Abdul Kabir, is a former member of the parliament of Guyana, and was arrested in Trinidad.
UPDATE at 6/2/07 10:02:17 am:
More names: Russell Defreitas (aka Mohammed), Abdul Nur, Kareem Ibrihim and Abdul Kadir.
UPDATE at 6/2/07 10:08:58 am:
There are connections to the radical Islamic group Jamaat al-Muslimeen. One of our posts about the jihad in Trinidad relates some of the violent history of this group; in 1990, they bombed police headquarters, stormed the Trinidad parliament, and took the prime minister and his cabinet hostage in an attempted coup that killed 24 people. And the plotters in that case were eventually pardoned.
Yup. Presbyterianists all right. Michelle Malkin reports their names are Russell Defreitas, Abdul Nur, Kareem Ibrihim and Abdul Kadir.
What about all the carbon released from burning that fuel, hmmmmmmm? That would increase the American carbon footprint enormously.
Clearly, the FBI forgot to copy this to The Goreacle™, in addition to CAIR.

The execution of the plot would have resulted in widespread destruction and loss of life, but the plot itself posed no threat. Nuance.

8/13/06:From Michel Malkin; Osama Sabhi Abulhassan and Ali Houssaiky of Dearborn, Mich. caught buying cell phones and microchips that can be modified by terrorists to make untraceable international calls and also for the production of roadside bombs. Assistant Washington County Prosecutor Susan Vessels said Abulhassan and Houssaiky knew the phones were being used for illegal activity.Mr. Abulhassan made a statement to officers that the phones and chips were being shipped overseas. Rolf Baumgartel, retained counsel for Houssaiky, said, “They are All-American kids that unfortunately in this day and age - since 9/11- have names that call them into question.”8/3/06 Baltimore police are investigating a firebombing at Baltimore Hebrew University after an employee reported a loud noise and then a fire at the base of a side door of a building in the 5800 block of Park Heights Ave. in Northwest Baltimore. At this point, there’s nothing that would indicate a hate crime.7/28/06:Six women were shot - one fatally - this afternoon at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle by a man who told a witness he was upset about ““what was going on in Israel.” The FBI says it’’s not “terrorism related”. So no worries. The mayor of Seattle announced that the City will do what ever it takes to preserve the peace, and, so, has ordered extra protection around Jewish temples and…...mosques.
-Feb or March 2006 Muslim runs over students at North Carolina U.//3/23/03 Sgt. Hasan Akbar kills Major Gregory Stone and Capt. Christopher Seifert, wounded 14 other US soldiers in Iraq, he had attended a Saudi-financed mosque in South Central Los Angeles, threw grenades among sleeping soldiers, In his diary he wrote,”My life will not be complete until America is destroyed.” Declared a Lone Nut. Not even classified as a terrorist by the US military.//28 October, 2002 J. Muhammed and Solvo, are arraigned for the murder of at least 10 innocent men women and children in the Washington D. C. area. They had a lab top, global tracking system, expensive guns in car. Known to have flown all over the USA and to have own travel agent. Declared lone nuts.//4 July, 2002, Hadayet, an Egyptian, heavily armed, killed some Jews at El Al LAX airport and was declared by the FBI, less than an hour after the attack, to be a Lone Nut. Later the FBI added that he may have been despondent. (He owned a Jaguar and a Mercedes, enough to make anyone distraught enough to grab pistols and a knife to kill a few Jews. But what really depressed him was the American Flag his neighbor put up after Sept. 11).// 23 May, 2002, P. Gott, a practicing Muslim, carries a Quran and a shotgun into Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans and shoots a US Department of Defense employee. Declared a Lone Nut.//22 December, 2001, R. Reid, shoebomber, classified initially as a Lone Nut and a Bit Eccentric, until the Israelis fingered him.//31 Oct, 1999, Ahmed crashes Flight 990 into US waters. Declared a Lone Nut.//23 Feb., 1997 Ali Hassan Abu Kamal shoots up the Empire State Building, kills, and is declared a Depressed Lone Nut.//1 March, 1994, Rashi Baz murders Jewish students on the Brooklyn Bridge. Declared to have acted alone except for help from Bassam Reyati, who admits concealing evidence and gets 5 years probation and a $1000 fine.//23 January 1993, Mir Aimal Kasi kills and wounds CIA employees. Declared a Lone Nut. His defense was that he was a brain damaged loner.//1991 El Sayed A Nossair murdered Rabbi Meir Kahane. The murderer (unknown at the time) was declared a Lone Nut by the FBI. Later Nossair was tied to the WTC bombing in 1993 and subsequently tried for Kahane’s murder. On a 40-minute bus ride home from work a few weeks ago, I was eavesdropping on the two guys sitting behind me. One was a practicing, presumably, anti-jihadi Muslim (I vaguely recall him complaining about forced hijab wearing or the like) and he was complaining to his co-worker about jihadi nuts being very active in Trinidad even saying that they, literally, were al Qaeda. (Although maybe a branch and not from the originals???) So maybe keep an eye on the Windies for more terror connections in the future.

I’m out at Dix a couple of times a month this time of year shooting…but it probably wouldn’t wouldn’t have been a good idea for them to attack the ranges. Not a good idea at all. Rule 7.62 and all that.
Even idiots can get lucky now and then…that’s what bothers me.
Naah, Waussie. Mohammed Defreitas, Abdul Nur, Kareem Ibrihim and Abdul Kadir of Jamaat al-Muslimeen are PRESBYTERIANS. They’ll be described by the SMH as of medium height and no fixed appearance.
No connection to the paedophile-following satan-worshipping, arse in the air five times a day wannabe bungholed cult at all.
And to say they might be is racist, OK? Just ask the lefties at LP mate, they’ll tell you.

Kennedy International Airport, arresting a former airport worker and two other men with links to Islamic extremists in South America and the Caribbean…The plot… had no apparent direct links to al-Qaeda or other Middle Eastern terrorist groups, according to officials and documents released Saturday.”
Much later on in the story, we find this:
“The complaint alleges that the four men tapped into aninternational terrorist network, utilizing its knowledge, expertise and contacts to devise the plot and to obtain operational support and capability to carry it out.”
Funny how these guys can get enough money and supplies, travel around the world, and maintain “international” contacts without links to any ME terrorist or other organization. I guess I need more frequent flyer miles to get my terror started. For those who aren’t up on the Caribbean history and ethnology:
Back after the British Empire outlawed slavery in 1833, the newly-freed blacks in Guyana and Trinidad in large numbers refused to work for their former owners. So the plantation owners looked elsewhere for workers, hiring indentured laborers from Scotland, Ireland, Portugal, China, and most especially, the Indian subcontient. Which included a fair number of Muslims.
So Guyana is about 50% East Indian ethnically, and 10% Muslim. Trinidad and Tobago are 40% East Indian, and 6% Muslim.
