NO NEED TO KILL HIM NOW

Possibly trying to avoid his Islamic Thinkers Society fatwa, Michael Leunig depicts George W. Bush as the devil:

Imaginative!

UPDATE. Further thoughts from Andrew Bolt.

  1. Are you sure that that isn’t just a ducktail haircut?

  2. Michael has put down the pen and fired up photoshop. Clearly he was inspired by his comrades at Associated Press.

  3. Imaginative and talented!

A man with a hairdo like this has no business playing with anybody’s hair much less attempting political satire.

Oh, and by the way this image took me exactly four seconds in Photoshop (yes, I timed myself). Can I be a National Living Treasure as well? No? Well how about a job at Fairfax and the whole back page.

  4. The funniest part is, if this retard actually believed anything he said, himself, he’d be to afraid to say it.

  6. #3.  HAHAHAhahahhaaaaaa.

So.  He stands with Chavez.  Bush wouldn’t do anything to him, but Chavez just passed a law making it a crime to speak against his government and the duck’s ass would go to jail for a similar portrayal.

Grimmy is right.  If Bush were all that some people accuses him of, we’d never hear anyone say it.

I’d give it a thumbs up and rate it an A… (see I’m not afraid to rate it from a-d)

It’s a great chick flick, girls a must see.

  11. I actually laughed, mostly because the accompanying text was so demented that it’s incomprehensible, and therefore (in this context) somehow funny. It’s an improvement, at least, on Leunig’s bitter, sadsack “humor” attempts.

Bush looks kind of cute with “shampoo horns,” by the way. I think he should come out to a press conference with his hair moussed up like that, just to freak people out.

November 4th, 2008, while congratulating the Republican successor to his office would be a good opportunity. :)

  13. How is it that godless secularists who don’t believe in anything as simple-minded as evil—sorry, ‘evil’—expect labeling someone a devil to have any meaning at all?

  14. Um, wait just a minute.  Maybe, just maybe Leunig is trying to say something else. The first two comments in “your say” propose other unlikely candidates for the devil, pointing to the ridiculousness of calling Bush the devil.

No, I must be reading it all wrong…

  15. Leunig is wrong yet again.

Remember the reaction from the press (mainly here in Australia and the UK) when he gave the Texas Longhorns salute at his inaugeration? They almost had orgasms since they thought he was making the sign of the devil and was confirming all their prejudices.

  18. #14 it does seem like a rather light-hearted, self-mocking cartoon in a way… a welcome relief from the heavy-handed lecturing he’s taken to of late.

  19. That’s what I always love about Leunig. His creativity. And his sheer funniness.

What a riot. How original. Wake me up when Leunig’s gone....

  20. The dippy old duck molestor might be on to something.

Mind you, there’s more of it about than you’d think.

We all know about this imp, and the plagues he’s released on mankind; fortunately there’s still some brave blue-state liberals prepared to resist the power of evil.

    At least Leun’s original.

  23. Leunig’s opinion of Bush as the devil? Adolescent, passe and even worse, not funny or insightful.

Intersting take he has on Your Say - I take it to mean that he doesn’t think very much at all of the comments and/or insights of people who read newspapers or who, perhaps, think that Bush is not the devil.

I think it’s his way of saying he’s disgusted with Bush obviously AND with the Australian populace.

    Interesting. Ve-ry interesting.

  24. Bolt’s post is perfect and clearly shows Michael Leunig for the hypocrite he is. That this bucket ‘o shite is an Australian Living Treasure is beyond belief. And what the %$#& does the “cartoon” even mean?
