<< "LIVE SOMEWHERE ELSE" ~ MAIN ~ CRUEL ICE IN RETREAT >>
NIXON JR
It’s not the crime that nails you, it’s the cover up. Someone who was 26 in 1974 should be aware of this.
The word “Orwellian” is most appropriate here. What a low-rent little hack.

Oh to be a journalist, an editor, a man of letters like Greg Mitchell. To be in a position to ignore or reinterpret your mistakes yet herald your perceived triumphs to a wide-eyed world. If only someone had told me this in primary school my life and career path would surely have been different.

They are the subject of my upcoming book The Crappiest Generation
You know, I’ve about had it with being lumped in with the jerks of my generation. Those of you who are the children of “The Crappiest Generation,” ought to think twice about how you talk. Believe me, there will come a time when you will be on the receiving end of such disrespect. (Hell, when I look at today’s young folks, walking around in their combination pedal-pushers, culottes, and bell-bottoms, I know for a fact that they will seriously regret their fashion choices.)
What you are talking about is today’s so-called Establishment, which is the same gripe I heard as a part of the Crap. I never joined in with that particular bunch. I hated the constant interruptions at school; I was working my way through college and it was expensive enough without overheated children, spurred on by those of the Greatest Generation who were teaching at the time, causing classes to be cancelled. I have never espoused Marxist ideology, nor carried around a little red book. I despised the Soviets. In other words, I’m a boomer and I’ve never done or said any of the things people blame me for when they use such a broad brush to paint a whole generation.
Having said that, I will admit that there are times when I am so disgusted with my own generation that I just want to slap the whole bunch. ;^)
You do realize that every time you lump everyone in any category together, that you are using collectivist language?
saltydog: What he said!! I’m a little sick of it. b. 1947, served US Air Force, worked full-time and attended college post-service, got sick of seeing idiot protesters, etc, etc, etc. Not all of us were Bill Clinton or John Kerry.
and whale spinor, while I might want to rewrite some of 1967 I sure wouldn’t mind reliving a great deal of it.
;->=
YMMV, of course.
It wasn’t only the hippies and the Children of Love who were having a good time. ‘course, I only needed about 3-4 hours of sleep a night back then.

And since I was born in ‘60 (served in the USAF too) I’m technically a member of The Crappiest Generation, but that doesn’t change the fact that they invented disrespecting their elders. I don’t disrespect those deserving respect and recognize it wasn’t everyone, but those who dealt it out in the 60’s haven’t earned the respect you would normally get in your 60’s and won’t get it from me.
