  6. Yet The UK’s Brown was champing at the bit to say that if democracy returned to Zimbabwe, the Brits would pump in millions of pounds of aid. If I were a British taxpayer, I’d be pretty annoyed. To quote Blackadder, they had the cash ‘seen it, stole it, spent it’.

  14. On the contrary Howzat, the lesson to be gained from the experiences of Zimbabwe (and Uganda, Germany, Russia, Fiji, Venezuala and a host of other nations) is that democracy is fragile. It is not the world’s default political position, nor is it fuure assured in ‘white’ hands. It must be defended. Constantly.
