NATALIE STILL ASHAMED

She meant it before she didn’t mean it:

Natalie Maines, feisty lead singer of Dallas, Texas country superstars the Dixie Chicks, may have apologised to President Bush for her now infamous outburst on the eve of the Iraq war, but now she wants to take it all back.

She’s still ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas. A few days after the chance remark at a London concert - now referred to by the band as “The Incident” - Maines grudgingly released a statement that began with the line, “As a concerned American citizen, I apologise to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful”, but a little over three years later, her attitude is very different.

“When I made that statement I meant it, but this President’s disrespect for Americans and differing opinions has made me feel like the office doesn’t deserve respect, so I don’t support my statement now,” says the frank and articulate 31-year-old Texan native.

“Frank and articulate” is an anagram of “a fanatical red trunk”.

UPDATE. Dixie Chicks fans recently turned up in Texas for a promised concert, only to find the band had postponed:

Jennifer Aragon, upset fan, said, “I have no idea what happened today.”

KXAN photographer said, “And what was supposed to happen today?”

Aragon said, “Dixie Chicks concert was supposed to happen today. We purchased our tickets four or five months ago.”

KXAN photographer said, “Did you change any plans?”

Aragon said, “Yes I did. I cancelled chemotherapy in the morning to be here today.”

  1. “Frank and aArt iculate”

These are two brothers Natalie balls, when back home in her beloved land. Both at the same time. I mean how else could you get so fucking nuts?

  2. So she supported her statement before she didn’t support it? But which statement? Liberals are so confusing.

Isn’t “articulate” what you call someone when you’re shocked they can string four words together without saying “like”, “y’know”, “y’all”, or “fo’ shizzle”?

I want a specific example of President Bush showing his disrespect for Americans or differing opinions.  Just one of each will do.

  6. Wow.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone try to milk a cow this hard.

Um…Natalie?  When The Incident™ happend, George Bush’s remarks were “she’s entitled to her opinion.”  How exactly is that being “disrespectful”?  I’m not embarrassed that he’s from Texas,  but I am embarrassed that he even took the time to acknowledge the stupid comments of a person as insignificant as Natalie Maines.

  7. Lord, I have never heard someone use her Constitutional right to yap as much as Natalie does.  And only about the one subject, too.  Doesn’t she tire herself out at some point?

Yes Dave, its also what Democrats call black people they are trying to patronize into voting for them.  So for example, Condi Rice would not be “articulate”.

  9. #5:

Well, Dubya’s never invited poor Natalie to the White House, has he? Can’t get much more disrespectful than that - if you’re a liberal celeb anyway. The rest of us obviously understand that free speech doesn’t obligate anybody to listen, a point that has evaded her for the last 3 years now.

  11. It appears from recent interviews with members of the Dixie Chicks and Tim Robbins, being ‘silenced’ in the US refers to receiving written and spoken criticism. In Russia, being silenced means being shot in the head…..

  12. Natalie and her band are being held as ideological hostages of the left.  The worst part is the apparent onset of Stockholm Syndrome.

  13. In her case everything is an anagram for “supersize it!”.

Ms Hawking on steroids states that Bush has made her lose repect for the office.  I always thought the office to be distinct from any individual President.  Sort of like the “Long Grey Line” is really distinct from any individual West Point grad. That’s how I could have no respect for Clinton yet remain respectful of the office itself.

  14. Poor Natalie, twisting herself in knots because she doesn’t know who to please first.  She could give John Kerry lessons in flip-flopping.

  15. Invincible ignorance isn’t a pretty sight.
What does she mean: has made me feel like the office doesn’t deserve respect??

    ‘The Office’?
I guess she won’t vote for anyone to replace Bush, and won’t respect the next incumbent either.
True Airheads should keep all their air inside… it stinks with stupidity.

  17. #8 is right. Not to be indelicate, but in the U.S. articulate is used almost exclusively to describe black people who are articulate.

E.g., There’s been preachy public service announcement running on my sports talk radio station. Money line:

“Ted’s very articulate ... for a black man ... You know what I mean?”

“No Bill, I don’t know what you mean…”
