“South Park,” the popular Comedy Central show about the misadventures of a group of four Colorado boys, criticized the news media Wednesday night for its overhyped coverage of Hurricane Katrina. In the episode, two of the boys, Stan Marsh and Eric Cartman, accidentally crash a boat into a beaver dam, flooding an entire town. In the aftermath, local and national media blame it on global warming, ridiculously exaggerate the extent of the damage, make up stories of rape, murder, “cannabilism,” and tell tales of “hundreds of millions” of deaths in a town of 8,000 people.

#6 My husband didn’t get the Jew reference, since he had not received the memo from the Hollywood celebrities and peaceful Muslims that the Jews are the source of true evil in the world. So, I had to inform them that we are now to blame them for everything.
Hope others, too, find South Park unwatchably unfunny. A very pathetic series.
One lame premise padded, stretched for 25 sad minutes.
I like its politics, its stance; I wish it wasn’t such a lazy, underwritten crap.

I can’t say I find it “unwatchably unfunny”, but I’m not exactly seeking it out to watch either, because there’s only so much toilet humor I can take in any given month. Give me the Simpsons over that any day.
Since I didn’t catch it last night, can anyone tell me when it will rerun? I know Comedy Channel usually reruns the again right away, but is it this Saturday, or when? I’ll tape it. (no tivo)

And I believe the warning at the beginning of the show says the show is not suitable viewing for anyone. At least that’s what I think it says, since I ignore the warning. Yes, the show is raunchy, but it is very good satire. Satire, by definition, holds no topics off limits.
Actually geoff, Cartman said it best way back in Episode One:
The Visitors is still one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen on television.

Strangely, I haven’t seen many followups from the pompous asses who said Brown (FEMA guy) and Bush should have assigned someone to watch to news so they would know what was going on. HA! I heard one of the National Guard commanders complaining because they were ordered to chase after each of the assine rumors that the media came up with. Of course being a journalist means never having to say you’re sorry (unless losing a libel action).
Deadman—yeah, but your apology even then only has to be subscription only behind the Times’ firewall…

Within a day Lu turned up 1500 km away in his home town,dizzy and bruised but with no serious injuries.The 25 yr old reporter’s main experience was 6 month’s on a South African newspaper until it closed.When he filed he was not asked how clearly he could see the things he was describing and the Guardian desk in London did not ask him of his state of mind at the time of writing.
The report of Lu’s supposedly fatal beating has done as yet unknowable damage, not just to the Guardian and the journalist but to China’s grassroots democracy movement and perhaps to the practice of foreign journalism in China. The Simpsons on the other hand, who I LOVE more than almost anything, are beginning to get a little preachy and a little too topical for my liking, with unfunny jokes about unilateralism and America’s anthem being a hymn to war…nothing clever in all that.
But I still LOVE you Simpsons!
I didn’t break the dam, but I’m pretty sure I would have, if I only got this joke. But I don’t.

Saw this last night and it was the funniest episode I’ve ever seen (but I’m a new fan, so I haven’t seen that many). The parents are also afraid that if they will go outside to rescue the boys they will freeze in the 70 billion degrees below zero temperature. Stan tries to tell Kyle that the flooding wasn’t caused by global warming. What caused it, Kyle asks, “George Bush?”
It’s funny cuz it’s true…
