They removed the naked women, but it looks like they forgot to take out the cartoons:
Several Indonesian policemen have been hurt as hundreds of radical Muslim demonstrators threw stones at the Jakarta offices of Playboy magazine.
The magazine published a sanitised Indonesian edition for the first time last week containing no nudes, but the demonstrators have vowed to continue their attacks until the office is closed down.
About 300 members of the Islamic Defenders Front smashed windows and a gate at the magazine’s offices in South Jakarta demanding that it cease publication.
Similar, though less violent, attitudes towards the female body were once present in Australia. One hundred years ago.

More and more it seems that it merely held off the inevitable for a few decades. (Imagine a full-on Islamist movement during the Cold War, free to do a prequel to today’s Communist-Islamist alliances…what joy that would’ve been.)
Left-utopianism requires brute force to make it happen, then it implodes when the stark reality of its inability to deliver sinks in.
Whether the force comes from a Central Committee or a Dictator, the “realpolitik” support for some less than wonderful regimes is open to both sides. Is supporting Musharraf the same as supporting Kim Jong Il?They’re only reading it for the articles.

No. Musharrif isn’t insane, while Li’l Kim is. Mark Steyn pointed out that Musharrif being in charge rather than his rather less sensible predecessor Nawiz Sharif (democratically elected but terminally corrupt and flakey) during the Pakistani-Indian crisis a few years ago probably spared us a nuke war on the subcontinent.Among all the people I’ve read and heard denouncing the USA for allying with dictators against teh Commies I have never heard one of them complain about the US and Britain allying with Stalin against Hitler. That is the classic example of allying with a noxious dictator to do down a slightly more noxious one. It is hard to find them more noxious than those two. If it was OK in WWII, it was OK in the Cold War is my view. The ones we allied with then were nowher near as noxious as the ones we opposed. Mushie is nowhere near as noxious as the Mullahs and Saddam.
