MAC MOCKS!

Mac Johnson brings us up to speed on a recent cultural controversy:

As has now been well established by the Western press, five months ago a vicious right-wing propaganda rag in Denmark, possibly edited by a cryogenically preserved Nazi collaborator, sought specifically to denigrate Islam by commissioning a series of unspeakably horrible caricatures that baselessly portrayed Islam as having a tendency towards violence and intolerance.

Now, Muslims are not normally a people to congregate in mass protest and burn flags, hurl stones or break things. But this unprovoked act of cultural aggression (coming, as it did, out of the blue and occurring in Islam’s heartland, Denmark) was simply too much to take. Therefore, after five months of consideration, it was decided to make an exception for this case, and spontaneous protests broke out.

Excellent.

UPDATE. At 57, a first-time commenter is moved to remark:

I wouldn’t have bothered normally but I’m stupified at what’s going on here. And I wouldn’t even be here if our gutless free press had done the right thing in the first place.

In a very short period of time the original dastardly Danish dozen have expanded to 1000’s on the web. The increase may be following a mathematical power law with some weighted average metric as the exponent. Weighting parameters to include as a minimum: number of riots, span of boycott, illumination of pyrotechnics (in candella/m squared) and litres of blood spilt. Needless to say however, further research needs to be done. Who would have ever thought that this could have happened? Boycotts, pyrotechnics, a few riots and a bit of bloodshed should have put an end to the silly infidel nonsense. But no.

How silly of us all. But perhaps I really should take this seriously.

No, I don’t think I will - it’s fine in Brisbane tomorrow so I think I’ll play 18 and have a few jars afterwards.

Maybe these clowns should do the same instead of poncing about making idiots of themselves.

Fine words, sir.

  1. Mac Johnson had me going for a while there ...

Islamist threats and the response of western dills remind me of the antics of the Pirahna brothers:

“Rogers: I’ve been told Dinsdale Piranha nailed your head to the floor.

Stig:  No.  Never.  He was a smashing bloke.  He used to buy his mother flowers and that.  He was like a brother to me.

Rogers: But the police have film of Dinsdale actually nailing your head to the floor.

Stig:  (pause) Oh yeah, he did that.

    Rogers: Why?

Stig:  Well he had to, didn’t he?  I mean there was nothing else he could do, be fair.  I had transgressed the unwritten law.”

Md. Dinsdale might say to the invertebrate Danish PM, ‘Nice li-ul country you got ‘ere.’

  5. You know, i think the more people are doing it (mocking islam etc), the less dangerous its becoming???  when it was only one newspaper and 12 cartoonists, it was easy for the bullies in the muslim mob around the world to gang up and threaten them…

thats what bullies are like, they like to gang on individuals (like Salman Rushdie) and shout and scream and prove how tough they are…

when these mobs are confronted by an even bigger group, they are often shown up for the cowardly blow hards they really are… as more and more people print the cartoons and speak up about them, i think the risk decreases exponentially… after all, these halfwits are mostly stuck in the dark ages and can’t take us all on???  they’d prefer us to remain frightened and disunited… then they have the power…

and by the way, has anyone else noticed how everytime u hear about how many muslies there are worldwide, the number keeps seeming to go up for some reason???

at first i heard 1.3 billion, then 1.5, then in a recent post here someone was saying 1.8 billion… if this inflation keeps going on, soon there’ll be more so called muslies than there are people on the planet....

unless they are starting to count us according to their beliefs of everyone is really a muslie anyway, whether we want to admit or not.....

The normally shy, pacifist and apolitical muslims overcame their natural reticence in such matters, and gradually urged a few demonstrators onto the quiet and safe streets of various Middle eastern cities. Organisers explained to their bemused brethren that the protests must, above all remain peaceful in order to show the world the true nature of their faith and their way of life. “Make a quick and peaceful point, then home to a nice cuppa, into bed and up early, off to work as usual tomorrow”.

You know, i think the more people are doing it (mocking islam etc), the less dangerous its becoming???

Hard to say.  Less dangerous where?  As a world-wide average level of dangerousness, it might actually still be increasing.  In my town, and I hope in yours, it’s negligible.  But in Jakarta, Islamabad, Riyadh, and lovely lovely Tehran, probably not.

when these mobs are confronted by an even bigger group, they are often shown up for the cowardly blow hards they really are…

Where and when is that happening?

as more and more people print the cartoons and speak up about them, i think the risk decreases exponentially… after all, these halfwits are mostly stuck in the dark ages and can’t take us all on???

Well, I hope your basic idea is right, but I bet “decreases exponentially” kind of overstates it.  Thing is, they don’t have to take us ALL on.  They can still do large damage in particular regions and locations.
Plus to my chagrin, there ain’t NEAR enough rioters getting machine-gunned by local police forces and militaries.

Well if “being offended” is a criteria for getting noticed by the MSM, then I’ve met that since 1979 when the followers of Khomenei rioted in the streets of Teheran chanting “death to the Great Satan” while illegally holding innocent diplomatic personnel hostage.  I was very offended then and I’m still offended by it.

Where are the UN commissions set up to deal with “the offending of wronwright”?  Where are the reams of editorials in leftwing publications demanding truth be brought to light and justice served with respect to “the offending of wronwright”?

I can’t say that the Islamofanatic crowds are backing down, but I do see an upside to this whole Cartoon Flap.  And that is that a lot of the people who used to make reflex noises about “religious sensibilities” and “multicultural equivalence” are finally opening their eyes and seeing these Islamonazis as they really are.  It’s scaring the bajayzus out of them, and not a minute too soon IMO.

I expect we’ll still hear some hemming and hawing about “sensibilities” from these people, as people don’t give up a lifetime of squishy equivocating easily.  But I bet we see a lot less activism and fundraising on their part.

Anti-Muslim Riot in Nigeria Turns Deadly

LAGOS, Nigeria - Christian mobs rampaged through a southern Nigerian city Tuesday, burning mosques and killing several people in an outbreak of anti-Muslim violence that followed deadly protests against caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad over the weekend.

Residents and witnesses in the southern, predominantly Christian city of Onitsha said several Muslims with origins in the north were beaten to death by mobs which also burned two mosques there.

  39. yes #32 but the muslies would probably call the CIA fact book propaganda from the great satan… but i do think we have them outnumbered, and outgunned more importantly, just at the moment…

and i couldn’t contribute to this thread last night, but what i was saying about safety in numbers, is when there’s one film maker (van Gogh), or one news paper editor, or one author (Rushdie) they can receive anonymous death threats, or be killed in the street or have their families threatened....

when its just one country they can have their embassies burnt and their exports denied, and flags burnt and diplomats threatened… individuals can be targeted and intimidated by by the mob who usually look so tough standing together, but are such cowards when confronted by strength....

when lots of newspapers and tv news stations air them, they maybe able to hold their pissant little marches with shite placards, but they can’t stand over them all can they… not here in the west anyway… when many countries do it, and when we all resolve to stand by and support denmark and its exports, they can’t burn all out embassies can they???  and we can make up for any decline denmark experiences from exports to the middle east, so they can’t be economically intimidated…

in terms of hell holes like tehran and syria and pakistan, we will never be able to control what happens there, its their turf, they can rouse mobs on the drop of a hat over any insane issue, so it will always be dangerous to speak the truth there, and anyway its mainly muslies being killed muslies in these places… so no, not expecting any improvement in those places and they will probably continue to deteriorate… also not planning to visit any of them anytime soon either....

what i do find is if we stick together and back each other up, it becomes safer and less of a threat to speak the truth in our own countries....  which to me i guess is the most important thing… the same happened with the mafia and other groups who use to use stand over tactics and threats of violence to get their way… its much easier to do on the individual than the group that can protect itself…

i don’t like where the cronulla riots finished up, i think they got hijacked and got out of control… but after years of groups of M.E. tupes thinking they could kick sand in the faces of individuals down the beaches and everyone else would look the other way and not want to get involved, i would be surprised if they indulged in that any time in the near future, seeing for once the people did hang to together and said enough was enough....

  40. An anti-Muslim riot in Nigeria, eh?  Doesn’t surprise me, the Muslims have been murdering Christians there for years, any time they get their undies in a bunch about some trivial thing (once it was a comment on a beuaty contest).  What have the Nigerian Christians to do with Danish cartoons?  Nothing, but the Muslims hit out at any convenient non-Muslims as their victims.  Keeps the uppity dhimmis in line, dontcherknow.  The Muslims’ attitude to non-Muslims living among them seems to be similar to that of Jim Crow crackers or Afrikaans Nationalists to blacks; Jim Crow and Apartheid.

I have been saying for a long time that Bush and we neocons are the Muslims’ best friends, because we want to put down this jihad nonsense before the rest of the world decides “The problem is Muslims; no Muslims, no problem.” Muslims really don’t want to let the jihadis idiots drive us to that extremity, they really don’t.  If they don’t realize that they need to take a closer look at what happened at the end of World War Two, not just nukes but the total destruction that Germany and Japan experienced.  If the US gets really pissed the Muslims won’t like the result, won’t like it at all.

we prefer peace and quiet, and we usually want more facts and indicators and time to think about it… and it often takes a great leader to rise up and unify us, but once we are aroused and determined our retribution can often be overpowering as germany and japan found during WW2....

and i think some of these opinion polls are starting to show that the silent majority is starting to get the picture, even if the squeaking lefty intellectuals are getting most of the media attention with their hand wringing, head tilting views....

  42. An item from the Catholic Newsagency Zenit. Note 12 Churches destroyed in Nigeria.

VATICAN CITY, FEB. 21, 2006 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI expressed his sorrow over the violent protests in northern Nigeria that have left at least 30 people dead, including a priest.

In a telegram sent on behalf of the Pope by Cardinal Angelo Sodano, Vatican secretary of state, the Holy Father “assures all those affected of his closeness in prayer and commends the late Reverend Father Michael Gajere and all the deceased to the loving mercy of the Almighty.”

According to the Italian edition of L’Osservatore Romano, in addition to the 30 deaths, mostly Christians, there were at least 230 people injured during the uprising. The violence was linked in part to the press caricatures of the prophet Mohammed.

The same newspaper explained today that Father Gajere had witnessed to “the Gospel with the supreme gift of his life,” like Father Andrea Santoro, who was slain in Turkey on Feb. 5.

“He was brutally assassinated” after “having heroically saved the altar boys present in the parish,” the newspaper said of Father Gajere.

L’Osservatore Romano also stated that in addition to the protests against the Mohammed cartoons, opposition has united against a constitutional amendment that would permit President Olusegun Obasanjo to run for a third term next year.

    A pretext?

“The perpetrators of the protests have also destroyed some 12 churches, 200 commercial stores, some 50 private houses and hundreds of vehicles,” the newspaper reported.

“Five more people have died in conflicts in the city of Bauchi, where Islamic extremists denounced a supposed case of desecration of the Koran in a Christian school,” the paper said.
