LIGHT OF APPRECIATION

Incredibly, the Bush-controlled US media just can’t silence Mother Sheehan:

In yet another example of Cindy Sheehan’s surge to prominence, the mournful California mom-turned-celebrity peace activist attracted hundreds to a Peninsula auditorium Saturday, on the release of her third book.

Meanwhile, in Indiana:

The 2nd Annual Support Our Troops Rally was held Sunday at the Indiana World War Memorial ...

"I’d like to thank each and every one of you for attending this rally and lending your support for the troops and what we’re fighting for,” wrote Lance Cpl. Brad Scriff, 19. “It makes men like me feel like we are making a difference in the world and that our work is appreciated.

"Your opinion on the war does not matter to me. You have that freedom, but know that whether you’re for or against the war we are making a difference ... I’m around Iraqi nationals every single day, and I can see the light in their eyes.

"It is a light of appreciation, one of gratitude. They are truly thankful for what has been done to Hussein’s regime and look forward to a new life."

  1. "Mournful”? Have they ever listened to that low-wattage, sing-song voice of hers, or encountered that beaming smile when she basks in yet another locus of adoring attention? If she’s mournful, then Robin Williams is circumspect, and Paris Hilton is demure.

  3. Um, she wrote three books? Perhaps she sold three books. Or read three books, all by Mike al-Moore.

I truly respect, appreciate and honor the sacrifice of all of our and ALL other nations troops that have served or are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Actually, I should say, ALL troops of free societies throughout the world.

The living, the wounded and of course, those who gave all. I’m sure most if not all would agree with Lance Cpl. Brad Scriff. Others that have served or are presently serving, such as Texas Bob, would certainly know more then I.

This 19 year old, while an adult and fighting for freedom for us and others, speaks as though he were an elder statesman of the world, not 19 years of age.

Personally, (and I know I’ll probably draw fire) had I been in charge, I would have saved both Iraq and Afghanistan, by different means...it’s called rubble.

Maybe that is why, I’m NOT in charge.

  7. Hey bongo, I don’t speak too well, so I’ll let a 19 year old say it, in case ya didn’t or wouldn’t or couldn’t read it as a result of your “free” education:

"Your opinion on the war does not matter to me. You have that freedom, but know that whether you’re for or against the war we are making a difference ... I’m around Iraqi nationals every single day, and I can see the light in their eyes.”

But with my reply as far as you are concerned, you are absolutely correct...I have all the answers.

You poor “useful idiot”...but that moniker suits you, to a T, actually.

  11. I’m not surprised when our 19 year old soldiers are articulate but I think that some people are.  I think that some people are suprised soldiers can think at all because they don’t understand the motivation and because of that they make up this strange *thing* where ignorant innocents are manipulated into going unquestioningly and who just don’t understand the world they live in.

It doesn’t help that our common view of 18-24 year old men doesn’t even see them as men.

It’s almost as though the only place they *can* be, is in the military.

  12. I liked a video segment from Matt Dollard’s web site, paraphrasing: You get orders to go and you think what is the point of it, to go and risk getting killed, for what?  And then you get here and meet the people and they are people, living people, just like at home.

Or something like that.  The young man saying it was probably no more than 19 years as well.

  20. I walked into a bookstore recently and had to walk out, because that sow’s sanctimonious mug was plastered all over the goddam place. Among the many things I can’t believe about her followers is the fact that they can look at her and the adjective “simpering” does not once cross their bedazzled brain stems.

  21. Our young men and women like Lance Cpl Scriff are worth a dozen, nay, a hundred Cindy Sheehans.  They have actually gone out in the world and made a difference, risking their lives in the process, because they believe in something bigger than themselves.  Cindy Sheehan believes in making playing the part of martyr/mother for sympathy, and no one will respect her memory ... except, perhaps, for those who are small and angry, like bongo.

  22. And I wonder how Brad Scriff would rationalise the fact that the majority of Iraqi’s want the US out of Iraq? Except of course, for Al Qaeda:

I don’t speak for LCPL Scriff, but that’s been the goal all along.....when the Iraqi’s are able to stand on their own, and they ask us to.  Of course, you probably subscribe to the belief that we’ll never leave because of the rising American hegemony, or similar nonsense.

Needless to say, you won’t be convinced either way.  Your issues appear to be permanent.

As for Al Qaeda taking the long view.......this is news?  Your point is?

Of course, Zarqawi wasn’t taking the long view when he was butchering hundreds of innocent civilians, including that wedding party in Jordan.  Funny how you don’t show any angst over that, bongoman.  Even though the Iraqis are quoted on that in your linked article.  You must have missed that, I suppose.

Seriously, bongoman, this is just another drive by crapping from you, all blow and no substance.  If you’re going to aspire to being another Miranda Divide, you have to use trendy words like “blogmire”, “sheeple”, and so on.

But s/he is a couple years ahead of you, so just keep on practicing.  You’ll get there sooner or later.
