LET’S HOPE MATTHEWS NEVER INTERVIEWS DAVE CHAPPELLE

Hitchens silenced:

Asked by Chris Matthews on his Hardball TV show why many liberals think that Republicans are dumb, I try to explain that it goes back to John Stuart Mill describing the Tories as ‘the stupid party’. I add that the Tories used ironically to borrow this description of themselves, as indeed they did the word ‘Tory’, which was originally an insult. Warming to my theme, I list the other slanders that have been reversed by their original targets - from ‘Impressionist’ to ‘suffragette’.

I also mention a famous rude word for black people that begins with ‘N’ but has been annexed back by its victims. Suddenly, there is a break and the studio fills with grim-faced executives who tell me that I’m cut from the rest of the show.

Hardball should really change its name if it can’t face non-supportive discussion of a word that even Oprah doesn’t shy away from.

  1. Woohoo, nice to see my alma mater getting mentioned in the article.
As for silencing Hitchens, it is just another example of the fascist tendencies of the Bushilter regime.
Er, wait, it wasn’t them who was silencing someone?

  2. Hardball should really change its name

I suggest “Spitball” or “Beanball” or “Chin Music for Right-Handed Batters”.

  3. #2, LOL, Paco!

Let’s do hope Matthews never interviews Dave Chappelle.  Otherwise, he might hear some racially offensive words that have nothing to do with black people.

  4. What can you expect from a former aide to Tip O’Neil, a diehard New Deal Democrat from Boston and former Speaker of the House?

But really, does it make a difference whether they were former Democratic Party operatives or seemingly objective journalists?  Dan Rather was just as biased and subjective as Matthews.

The whole MSM needs diversity of thought and backgrounds.

Not that that what I’d prefer is worth anything, but hell, I’d settle for simple competence and integrity. Screw that diversity of thought stuff, that means idiots and crazy folk get equal air time. I’m kinda tired of that already.

  7. #3 RebeccaH: I want to see Chris go up against Zell Miller again. That was like watching a particularly stupid fly in a dog fight with the Red Baron of Swatters.

  8. The idiot suits didn’t even realize that Hitch was paying black people a compliment by pointing out how they had taken back the word “nigger”.

  9. I wish Zell Miller would do the honorable thing and run for POTUS.

  10. ``Nigger’’ is so bad that even an asterisk doesn’t save it, in modern practice.

The idea is that blacks are so emotional that there’s no telling what will happen if it’s written or said.

It’s part of the infantilization of blacks by the left.

  11. I once heard a black woman give a speech that said “The object of the Democrat party is to keep black Americans dumb, dependant and Democrat.”

The way I see it, modern liberalism is nothing more than blatant racism and “soft” slavery. Minorities are too stupid to fend for themselves. They are too “low born” to be required to behave according to any standard other than the very lowest.
They are too feeble to be required to learn or perform except at a specially designated low minimum.

Therefore we must care for them, since they can not care for themselves.

Any minority attempting to rise above the lowest of levels will be beaten down into submission or ostracised.

  12. Old SNL skit with Richard Pryor: taking a word-association test.

    Chevy Chase: Spear-chucker
    Richard Pryor: Say what?
    CC: Spear-chucker
    RP: Honkey!
    CC: Ok. Nigger
    RP DEAD honkey!

Well, yes, but it’s an example of black people not playing the victim card. No wonder that those earnest liberals at Hardball were so aghast.

  16. How about changing it to “Jackass” or “Donkey Time”  since that’s how he votes and sounds.

  17. #16 yojimbo,

Up next on Jackass with Chris Matthews…

    LOL!

But isn’t that a bit redundant?

“But isn’t that a bit redundant?”

    Why yes it is.  Heh!

Look at the upside.  Instead of “soundbites” we could now refer to them as “Donkey dumps” or something.  It’s a target rich envirnment out there.

  19. No doubt about Hitchens - he’s the nigger in the woodpile, alright.

....begins with ‘N’ but has been annexed back by its victims.
Sure that word isn’t Nader, Michael Moore?

  20. Speaking of Black Freedom, the ABC’s celebration of its 50 years of TV broadcasting did a few funny things with chronology.
The most obvious was the 1972 Triumphant Election of Whitlam, followed immediately by the historic referendum on Federal laws for Aborigines.
Rather odd, since that was in 1967 under the Liberal Coalition.

By the looks of Hitchens (on Lateline last night), the program could be called Highball.

  25. Sounds to me like they were worried that the guest who’d just “outed” himself as a “racist conservative” would start dropping N-bombs all over the place on live camera.

Quick! Cut to commercial! Get the Klansman outta here! Quit saying the Klan’s roots are in the Democrats! Mooooom!

Darn.  Not working.  Well how about our retrospective on Justice Hugo Black.

(I kid you not, btw.  I once listened to a parent trying—with a totally straight face—to make that argument to the assistant principal after her foul-mouthed spawn got kicked out of class.)
