LEST TRACEEEE FORGET

“Lest we forget,” writes Traceeee Hutchison, of the Tampa matter. And she evidently has, according to reader Jack, who emails:

• She leaves out that the good captain had wanted to take them to an Indonesian port, but they threatened to kill themselves, and;

• That though they were Afghans they were fleeing Indonesia, Malaysia and Pakistan, as well as Afghanistan. Also:

• The Tampa did not sail to Nauru;

• and I have never seen Tampa used as a verb or adjective.

As well, John Howard’s statement (“we will decide who comes to this country and the circumstances in which they come”) was made during the campaign, not in his acceptance speech, and presumably won some sort of endorsement from voters.

Just as well Traceeee wears the left-wing amulet of total protection, or else Media Watch might one day notice her.

  1. So Aussie media circles the wagons to protect itsself and damn the consequences. Gee, what a surprise.

  2. It’s amazing, or maybe it’s not, how long untruths can continue to be published by the Australian media.

    The Tampa incident took on a life of its own not long after it happened.  Facts were skewed or omitted because it suited the agenda of the media, the ALP and the Greens. In fact, I’m still of the opinion that Bob Brown should be tried for treason over his telephone calls to the captain of the ship, attempting to countermand the Government’s orders that the ship go to the nearest port, in Indonesia, and not continue to head for Australia.

    Now, I’m even hearing the 2001 federal election being referred to as “the Tampa election”.

    Misinformation rules!  Most particularly when it suits the Left.  It’s rare for anyone to call them on it and it’s even rarer for that to be published.

  3. Apart form the obvious “country shopping” tactic (never mentioned by our unscrupulous media) the use of threats to get a captain to alter course is a crime - hijacking.

  4. Since the leaky boats have stopped coming, many lives have been saved. Surely John Howard must take some of the blame for this.
