LEN EVANS

Len Evans—great man—has died at 75. Len’s son-in-law Steve Waterson, who called me with the news yesterday, is one of my closest friends; via Steve, I was lucky to have spent some time with Len at his Hunter Valley property. Knew so much about wine that he wasn’t a snob about it. Obit in the Bulletin (to which Len once contributed a column) next week.

  1. RIP. I’m sure many a glass of fine, unique Hunter Semillon and Hunter Shiraz will be lifted to note his passing.

  5. Len Evans was not only a marvellous wine expert, but his columns were worth reading for their general urbanity, humour and erudition too. He was a well-rounded man in more ways than one.
They showed those who didn’t know him that he lived life to the full.
