KINETIC ENERGY IS VERY GENTLE

The ABC’s Tony Eastley takes on Alexander Downer over the Foreign Minister’s rejection of the Red Cross ambulance hoax:

TONY EASTLEY: It may have been like some, much of the ordinance, it didn’t actually explode when it pierced the vehicle. So you still stand by what you said?

ALEXANDER DOWNER: Yes, sure.

UPDATE. Zoe Brain—excellent name, that—explains the kinetic effect of an unexploded bomb delivery on Mr. Ambulance.

  1. I’d like to see an SDB* dropped on Tony’s pointy head to see how well his chassis dispersed the kinetic energy.

(*These are about 60kgs I believe).

  3. It is bad enough when these people abet perpetrating a hoax, but this guy trying to deny one after it has been exposed is reaching beyond anything acceptable.

There are many in the media who are going to put themselves out of a job, not because we no longer need reporters, but because they have shown that they are unable to recognize the truth even when it is explained to them in words of one syllable; such as, this is a hoax.

  5. So where is this unexploded missile? Surely if that was true it would have featured in the photos’ to make the case even if it was only parts. Evidently not only did it not blow up it vapourised itself as well. The IDF sure have some fancy munitions don’t they.
I note Mr Lefty is trying to run the line something blew up above it and the force was only enough to remove the red dome. That being the case would that not mean then it was highly likely the ambo was NOT being targeted by the missile. ie the blast directed at the Ambo was so weak it only removed a plastic red dome doesn’t sound very direct to me. At minimum the compelling evidence the Ambo was targeted is now gone.
Sounds to me like there might be an important follow up story here… Is the Red Cross spokesman in cahoots with Hezbo?

  6. How long before we see the first published theory that this was a hoax planned by the Israelis (or perhaps the Americans) to make Hezbollah and/or Red Cross and/or MSM look bad? So as to discredit them?

I am not joking here. This thing is way beyond comedy. I am asking a serious question. I’ll give it ten days at most before someone like Fisk will be saying something like “Well who knows who was behind the ambulance missile hoax? Who stands to benefit from it? This is a murky world and there are sources telling me that it was Mossad who ...”

  7. How can Tony’s missile pierce the roof and stop dead before hitting the floor. A three year old can figure that out.

These ABC dissemblers never fail to make themselves look stupid. In the face of overwhelming evidence, simply because they do not wish to believe it, there is always the feeble,“but…”

  8. I’m still waitng for all those jealous MSM reporters to mine the blogs and present ONE article that gives the details to the public.
Then Eastley’s amazing naivety and/or bias would be widely evident.

How about an explanation like;  “It seems the ambulance man with the small nick on his face was actually wounded by an unexploded bomb, took it home as a mantle-piece souvenir, and was more concerned with the fate of his ambulance..”

By the way, has anyone seen the bloke whose leg was “sheered off” by the bomb in any later reports?

  9. ...much of the ordinance, it didn’t actually explode when it pierced the vehicle.

Maybe it was a Hezb’allah Bill of Rights Landmine that was the piece of “ordinance” that didn’t blow up the ambulance very much?

BTW, via LGF, behind the pair of pointed tits you’ll see what a vehicle destroyed by an indirect hit looks like:
    http://tinyurl.com/gd5av
(With me assuming that the vehicle wasn’t directly targeted, but was destroyed by the blast[s] that destroyed the nearby building.)

  10. Oh for *$?! sake, have any of these idiots actually looked at the photos.  LOOK AT THE PHOTOS!!! YOU CAN SEE THE SCREW HOLES AND THE RING OF UNPAINTED METAL AROUND THE HOLE FROM WHEN THE LIGHT WAS THERE!!!

Question : What kind of missile lands on an ambulance roof, unscrews the light (discarding it in an undiscoverable location) then slips inside through the lights hole, severs a mans leg, cleans up the blood from the severed limb, doesn’t explode, then vanishes into thin air?

Honestly, it’s embarressing to see supposed professionals huffing and puffing in defense of such a obvious hoax.

Answer: The Muslim Missile.  It also has a built camera that ejects the memory chip before blowing up.

Seriously, we seldom see this degree of idiocy unless the lefties really screwed the pooch, and then they are in full denial mode, trying to rationalize their core beliefs and inner fantasies against the realities of the cold, hard world.

  23. Eastley is a smart operator. What you have here is him implying to his lefty audience, “see, there is another possible explanation, and it is only a government politician who says it’s a hoax”. He ends the interview at that point. Listeners who haven’t looked at the evidence can then go away thinking that at best it is unproven either way.

  24. Was particularly irritated with Eastley throwing in his comment at the end of the interview. Have emailed him asking for his sources for his explanation for the event.

That fellow Kassem Shaulan, ambulance driver without stitches in his chin, also reported that at Qana he knew there were no hezbollah because he saw none, or any evidence of them. Another red cross worker Mohammad Zatar was a red Cross osurce for the fake death toll at Qana.

The Red Cross has some serious reflecting to do. They will receive not a brass razoo from me in the future. And have threatened my husband that he will be locked out of the house if he agrees to collect for them again.

  27. OK, let’s look at the energy from a “dud” Hellfire missile.

From the Federation of American Scientists Data, launch weight is 100-108 lb. But some of the weight is rocket fuel that has been burnt off, so call it 40kg, about 88lb.

The maximum speed is given as 950 mph. But lets say it’s a little less, call it 400 rather than >450 metres/second.

That gives a kinetic energy of 3.2 Megajoules.

A Kilo of TNT releases 4.2 Megajoules, so call it 1.8 lbs of TNT equivalent.

A 1 ton car hitting the ambulance at 100 km/h would release only 0.392 MegaJoules.

The energy released is the same as if a 1-ton boulder had hit at 80 metres/second, a velocity it would reach if it had been dropped from a height of 320 metres.

Call it a 1 ton boulder dropped from 1000 ft.

To find this out would take a few minutes of research, and some basic high school physics. There’s even a handy kinetic energy calculator on the web, and conversion factors and such can be found on Wikipedia.

It’s not the mythical evaporating jewish missile that was a dud, it’s mainstream media, and the “journalists” at the ABC.

  38. Some of these comments are outstanding.  Either illuminating (e.g., Zoe’s) or funny as hell (virtually everyone elses’).  This reminds me of the Dan Rather fake TAG memo situation.

And in both cases the issue was the same.  The MSM has the responsibility to report facts, not rumours or possibilities.  Whatever it reports is given a seal of truthfulness and authentity.  It’s therefore incumbent of it to verify each claim.  When it does not do this, especially in the context of a highly controversial subject, it is guilty of assisting one side to the detriment of the other.  In so doing, it loses its status of an impartial observer and becomes a biased participant in the controversy.

This is nothing less than damning.
