JEWS OWN ALL THE GOLD, SILVER, AND ... WATER

Hugo Chavez fans Antony Loewenstein and Andrew West might take pause on reading a translation of the Venezuelan President’s Christmas speech:

The descendants of those who crucified Christ ... have taken ownership of the riches of the world, a minority has taken ownership of the gold of the world, the silver, the minerals, water, the good lands, petrol, well, the riches, and they have concentrated the riches in a small number of hands.

Chavez’s speech in the original Spanish is included at the above link. I’m assuming the translation is accurate.

(Via Ross F.)

UPDATE. More on Hugo from Alex Beech.

UPDATE II. Bob Pence in comments:

I think he’s talking about more than just Jews here. He continues:

“A minority was appropriated the wealth of the world, a minority was appropriated gold of the planet, the silver, minerals, waters, good earth, petroleum, the wealth, then, and have concentrated the wealth in few hands: less than the ten percent of the population of the world she is owner of more than half of the wealth worldwide...” [emphasis mine]

Chavez is focused on natural resource wealth in the passage, not nationality. He goes on to praise Bolivia’s election on an Indian, not focusing on her foolish socialist policies.

Apparently he is indeed Jew-baiting, but only as a larger criticism of white folks / Europeans / the rich or some such, i.e. the top 10%. A nice benefit of being a socialist: No matter how much you debase the national or global economy, there is always a top decile to blame. A nice benefit of being an anti-Semite: You can always say that all of the Jews are among it.

So he’s no Ahmadinejad, just a routine moonbat, but look forward to urinating on his grave nonetheless.

When a Marxist demagogue like Chavez expresses outright Jew-hatred, Lowenstein (and Chomsky and other self-hating Jews like Marx before them) will almost certainly make excuses for Chavez. I’ll lay you 10-1 odds on that.

  10. It’s time you knew the TRUTH about the holocaust:

During WWII, the Jews herded themselves into concentration camps and then gassed themselves.  The purpose of this was to get the SYMPATHY of the world which resulted in the creation of the State of Israel.

Some may say that murdering six-million of themselves was not necessary to accomplish their goal, perhaps four or five million would do, but that just goes to show that devious Jews will STOP AT NOTHING to maintain their domination of the world.

  11. If Chavez had been paying attention during his Christian Doctrine classes, he’d know that the teaching of the Catholic Church is that Christ died to atone for the Original Sin of Adam and Eve, and for the sins of every descendant of Adam and Eve.

Thus, on the purest of theological grounds, Chavez himself is both a crucifier of Christ, and the descendant of those who crucified Christ.

  14. I am told, by people who are not fooled by Chavez’s politics, that he is, nonetheless, very charismatic. Always a problem in democracies, unfortunately.

I believe bobpence (#9) is close to the mark in saying that Chavez is trying to be understood as decrying the wealthy, in general; but one cannot escape the possibility of an underlying anti-semitic current. This is quite strong in certain parts of South America, and given some of the pro-Islamisist noises Chavez has made on other occasions, not to be dismissed entirely.

  19. Just to clarify, I am not saying that Chavez is not a filthy stinking anti-Semite. I am saying he is not just a filthy stinking anti-Semite. I’m not sure how to explain the distinction well; I am just reluctant to focus solely on his anti-Semitism rather than seeing it as an undercurrent (to steal from paco) in his larger scape-goating of those who succeed as culpable for the failure of others.

Of course an elementary understanding of economics demonstrates that it is not a zero-sum game (while Chavez’s focus on natural resources makes it seem to be). His position, then, is anti-capitalist, which surprises no one, but is in the face of modern history objective pro-impoverishment: Oppose private property and free markets and you invite a leveling a la North Korea. He is a danger, although a long-term rather than an imminent one, to his own people and to neighboring countries. There are bigger fish to fry from the perspective of the free world, including the U.S. and Oz, but worse things could happen than someone was cleaning their gun when he passed by and, well…

(Notice I am not imitating Pat Robertson, since I am suggesting private rather than government action. Not even suggesting; hinting at, really. Please.)

  21. I don’t think this is simple anti-semitism. It comes in the context of a long, liberation-theological diatribe against the powers of this world, invoking `Christ the revolutionary’, the kind of thing liberals told us that Pope Benedict had been wrong to combat before coming pope. `The descendants of those who crucified Christ’, tellingly in apposition with `the descendants of those who fought Bolivar’, in this tradition are the powers that be, the spiritual descendants of the Romans and the Chief Priests: landowners, multinationals. Of course it is a crass vision, and the words are unnervingly close to the blood libel and suggest hatred of the real descendants of Venezuelan landowners who backed Spain. It’s extremely disturbing that a head of state should use the occasion of a Christmas message to preach this strange, semi-Christianised class warfare. Anti-semitism is part of the hornet’s nest this kind of warfare throws up, and maybe was a dog whistle in the rhetoric, but the surface meaning is not directly anti-semitic.

I don’t think you can seperate anti-semitism from anti-capitalism.  They are the same thing.  In Medievial times, the Jews where the (closest thing to) capitalists, because gold is portable and land isn’t, so they became bankers, when ever the Kings wanted to get out of paying the “money-lenders” loans back, they stoked up anti-semitism and a pogrom was born.  The Nazis were focused on Jews as the controllers of all the wealth - and during the depression, it was easy to get the population stoked up against Jews.  It is no coincidence that the same people who hate the Jews hate the US as well.

  37. Yeah, Chavez is a [potentially] dangerously empowered prick to anyone his apparent cocaine psychosis happens to fixate upon.

True to his archetype he’ll glom on to any group, or cause, or means that his addledness thinks will allow him to further his will to power.

Paradoxically, as we can see, he’ll happily hop into bed with both Islamist Fundamentalists & Transnational Progressives. It’s interesting in a rather disturbing way to watch these ad hoc alliances coalesce across the globe. The catalyst for these seemingly contradictory alliances is modernity. More specifically modernity as represented by the demonstrated global success of Anglospheric principles embodied in the Democratic Rule of Law harnessed to Capitalism. The lesser ism’s are essentially sore, albeit dangerous, losers who aren’t yet willing or able to admit their own failures of governance in liberty.

Anyway, I’ll continue to hope otherwise but suspect it’ll get considerably more chaotic (i.e. deadly) in Chavez’s Venezuela as he continues to consolidate his grip...Which of course will hardly dampen his tranzi groupies enthusiasm for ‘la causa revolucionaria’.

On the hopeful side, cults of personality such as the one Chavez and company are developing are inherently unstable and likely to fade or be assasinated away in the early stages.

Unfortunately, this same instability encourages a deep paranoia to take root in the ruling elite as the despot and his cronies work to crush internal threats; threats which increase for a time as the state’s chokehold tightens forcing the opposition to go to ground. If the despot is successful in crushing this dissent… Voila! A Police State that has attained the power to crush the very will of the people.

Purges within Chavista ranks should commence shortly thereafter.

  39. The Jews had silver and gold as they had become - throughout Europe - increasingly denied ownership of land. It wasn’t their desire to own ‘all’ the silver and gold, but they were forced to keep small hoards of precious gems and metals to survive since they were denied land. Many nomadic people do the same.

Chavez and other anti-Semites must be ignorant of the fact that Jews were not present in any but the smallest of numbers in places like China, Southeast Asia, and India and, historically, could not have controlled the world’s wealth. In Africa, the Indian and the Chinese became the wealthy outsiders, the merchants and money lenders. There, they were/are the despised minority who have succeeded where - as in Malaysia - native tribal groups have not. Half the world had little if any knowledge of Jews as money lenders, and yet eurocentric anti-Semites like Chavez think World when they mean, primarily, Europe.

It would almost be worth pointing this out to a few lefty sites to watch them tangle themselves up in their own anti semetism and bile. Also make a good alternative history novel.
Also a small beg. Has anyone written a proper historical book on this?

The approach came from Isaac Steinberg and the UK based Freeland League. At that time the cattle market had bottomed in Australia and the Duracks were attempting to sell some of their land in the Kimberleys. In 1927 the Zionist Federation of Australia and New Zealand was formed under the presidency of Rabbi Israel Brodie and the patronage of Sir John Monash. But as the British administration in Palestine became less in line with Jewish aspirations a spilt between the Zionist Federation and lay leaders Sir Archie Michaelis and the former Governor-General Sir Isaac Isaacs resulted in overt hostility, and the deal fell through.

This was before native title, which would probably oppose such a sale today.

As you can see she did a good job.
