  1. as posted to the ST:

Has anyone told Monbiot that Frisbees (a US invention) are made of PLASTIC?  Evil petrochemicals?  Unless he is proposing that in future they be made of environmentally teak or mahogany, in which case I look forward to seeing him catch one in his teeth...

  2. SORRY, ‘environmentally sustainable’

  3. Leave it to Tim to come up with a strategy. Do Nothing! I would become a DoNothing activist, but for my apathy.

  4. As well as do nothing, can they shutup as well. It’s becoming like fingernails on a chalkboard.

  5. ...  “Who are we to deny Greenland’s reindeer their thyme in the sun?” ... I now cannot get back to sleep.  Good one.

  6. "Climate shriekers.”

Aren’t they the critters next to the lemurs at the zoo?

  7. Great article, Tim. A lone, cool voice calling out in the whirling inferno of Goreite pyromaniacs.

  8. Of course, now you’ve forfeited any chance of a lucrative career as a “AMA Certified” TV Meteorologist.

  9. That is one guy who has no future in this business.  Is he a relative of yours?

  11. Which is a bit rich, coming from someone who’s spent the best part of 30 years speeding around the planet in all manner of Gaia-unfriendly Earth-eaters.

    Gaia-unfriendly Earth-eater.  I want that for a bumper sticker.

  12. The inconvenient truth about An Inconvenient Truth is that, far from representing the solution, it’s a contributor to the problem.

Very neat, Mr Blair. You outdid yourself with this one. And I ditto RebeccaH; you really should open up a CafePress site and start selling your bons mots. I’d buy them, and I imagine just about everybody else who visits here would too.

  13. Just make the site name somewhat inconspicious...I’d long have ordered one of Taranto’s “Kerfuffle” t-shirts if it wasn’t for the OpinionJournal.com tag making me look like the tool I’d probably be if I wore that.

  14. Are the Do Nothings anything like the Know Nothings (oh for the days when the Irish were our biggest immigration problem)?

Who are we to deny Greenland’s reindeer their thyme in the sun? And why are environmentalists so hot, so to speak, for halting the Earth’s evolution at this point in history?

Good questions. Love the way you write, Tim.

  16. "Who are we to deny Greenland’s reindeer their thyme in the sun?”

It snuck up on me. Laughed loudly in front of others. Mildly embarassing.

    Great Planetary Thermostat

    Excellent! Well done Tim.

  17. I really do need glasses. For a moment there I thought I was seeing George Moonbat instead of George Monbiot.

  18. #12: Doctor Alice is right, Tim, and the very first t-shirt should be emblazoned with Blair’s Law.

  20. This is my fourth try at commenting on this post.  All my brilliance keeps disappearing into the ether.  I blame Bush.

Notice that Tim points to the hysterics actual agenda:  they want everything to stop.  Like Rousseau, they can’t stomach having to compete honestly in a dynamic world, trading their efforts with others, so everybody must stand still so they won’t have to.

One of your best, Tim.  You and Jules keep my trust going.  I don’t know how you survive in the world in which you must operate, but I thank you for all your efforts.

  23. I’m with everyone else. Love your work, Tim, and when you going to get yourself some bumper stickers and tshirts?

Salty, add Bolta and you get the trifecta.
