It’s important for the Aussies to learn from America’s mistakes in this regard. When segregation ended in the 60’s there was a big “white flight’ to the suburbs. A lot of this was simple bigotry, but the pattern has held up over the years and is now due to two big factors: quality and safety.
Inner city schools typically suck; graduation rates are considered good if they reach 50%. And the amount of racial violence (alluded to in your article) makes parents leery of sacrificing their child to some race gang attack simply to prove they’re not bigots.Solution is to maintain discipline and educational standards.
#21 Parents who remove their kids from state schools are racists, say state school principals. That is just the attitude that is driving parents to remove their kids.
State schools have become re-education camps where it is more important children are indocrinated with left-wing views than taught to read and write.
Prime minister Kevin Rudd put his kid into a private school in Canberra. So he must be a racist despite his sorry day rhetoric. Bet a survey of Labor MPs kids, federal and state, will find few in state schools. A real vote of confidence in the school system their parents are running

I can’t see how anyone could debate otherwise.
There is also a lot of what you say in the new generation ‘private schools’. The ones that commenced operation in the 70’s.
They’re a slightly more upmarket version of the State sponsored protected work shelters.
I know many career public service labor voters who spruik their wank crap ad nauseum and have put their children through the most elite of schools.
They don’t see the contradiction. I remember clearly some 30 years ago how these same people scoffed at the schools they eventually sent their own children to.
Not a patch on Michael Moore vs The Family Guy ...

But if you are Muslim or Aboriginal, the state school experience is different. Left wing re-educators go out of their way to make these students feel welcome: “Christmas and Easter celebrations at school? Never!Christianity offends our Muslim students however we do observe Ramadan. Australian history? The invasion offends our indigenous students. We do genocide studies instead.”
The lack of proper curriculum, endemic Public Service attitudes laced with ALP groupthink, then combined with the poison of kids from homes who don’t give a shit makes the state school system a cot case.
Mine experienced this when transferring from a good christian school to an ordinary middle order state school in Sydney. It went from academe to survivor. One survived by ostracising herself (translation - spent most of the time in the library).
Racist? That all-purpose insult from the perennially left-deranged media? Stick it up your arse.
