IMAGE SEEN

The Ottawa Sun’s Earl MacRae adds to the growing number of Obama assassination fantasies:

Barack Obama is waving his arms. The crowd is cheering. I see the image I don’t want to see. I see the image that is the terrible sickness in the great republic. I see Barack Obama one minute smiling, the people crying his name. I see Barack Obama grab his chest and his eyes widen and his mouth opens and the crowd screams as Barack Obama, black candidate for the presidency of the United States of America, falls to the ground dead, an assassin’s bullet inside him.

Via Mark Steyn, who notes that - unlike pieces musing on the possibility of George Bush’s death - “Obama-assassination porn is written by his worshippers”. Nice friends you’ve got, Senator.

  1. Steyn is quite right. remember the film ‘death of a President’? regarding the possible death of George Bush? Wiki has this to say regarding its cheer squad:

“Those who praised it include Rex Reed of the New York Observer, who provided the filmmakers with the quote “Clever, thoughtful, and totally believable. This is a film without a political agenda that everyone should see” [13], and Peter Howell of the Canada’s Toronto Star, who said, “The film’s deeper intentions ... elevate it into the company of such landmark works of historical argument as Peter Watkins’s The War Game, Costa-Gavras’s Z and, closer to home, Michel Brault’s Les Ordres. Every thinking person should see Death of a President”

  3. There’s a difference, though.  They usually dream of Bush dying from cancer.  The assassin’s bullet for Obama will enshrine him as a martyr and he can be worshipped forever that way.

  4. If Obama is assassinated, it will be seen as proof that racist, xenophobic AmeriKKA could not tolerate a black Muslim-named man as President. Despite having just elected him.

Say, I think that’s it. The Left can’t accept that America would elect this man. It destroys their central beliefs. So he has to be assassinated or their world falls apart. Now I’ll go read that Steyn column, where he probably says that but a million times smarter.

  7. If you take this lunatic reasoning to its logical conclusion these people know how to prevent an assassination but will not.  If they don’t vote for Obama he will be safe.  So what does that make them?  Conspirators?  Accessories?

  10. People like MacRae believe we’re still in the 1960’s and they’re walking with Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma, Alabama.  America has moved forward, losing much of the shakles of racism and other -isms.  But MacRae and his ilk havne’t moved one step.  Truth be known, they wish it was still the Sixties.

  11. OT The Palestinians seem to be doing Mossad’s job for it: Egypt shocked by ‘foul-mouthed’ Gaza cousins.

It also turns out that the Egytptians have a slightly more robust approach to border security than most western countries:

Egypt’s foreign minister, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, warned last week that “anyone who breaches the border will have their legs broken”.

    I sorta like this guy.

  13. The assassin’s bullet for Obama will enshrine him as a martyr and he can be worshiped forever that way.

It’s a variation on the JFK model - a piss-poor President, assassinated by a lone left-wing wacko, but turned into the victim of a right-wing conspiracy that prevented the attainment of political nirvana.

Obama has become a Rorschach test for the left, saying little of substance, but with his supporters projecting their own political dreams onto him.

When people predict that he will be assassinated, what they are really saying is that they need for him to be assassinated in order to preserve their dream of what Obama could have been and to confirm their own biases against American society.

And that’s what makes predictions of his assassination particularly creepy.

  14. It’s more likely that he would be assassinated because he is an Islamic apostate rather than that he is a half black, half white, American, with aspirations to be president.

  15. Just finished reading McRae’s column.  Ye gods, but the man is unhinged.  As everyone here points out, he is panting for Obama to get taken down, it’ll prove the fantasies of the left.  Hell, I’ll bet McRae and his sicko comrades would cheer if Obama caught a bullet.

I believe this is exactly right.  And if Obama is assassinated, then they will never have to find out what a terrible disappointment he ultimately would be.

That MacRae character sounds like he’s positively salivating at the prospect of an Obama martyrdom.  What a disgusting jackass.

  19. A lot of the loony left is composed of drama queens who dream of glory. The sixties fulfilled their adolescent dreams of being grand rebels against an evil dictatorship, and since then, they’ve been trying to recapture their moment in the sun by framing everything in mythical terms. Bush isn’t an evil dictator or a moron, but that doesn’t fit their narrative, so they had to make him one in order to frame themselves as the heroes.

Hence the assassination fantasies. Obama’s tragic death would give them an air of tragic heroism that would fit the narrative, like a beautiful/pure/powerful woman with raven-black locks and sparkling crystal eyes delicately wiping a single tear from her eye after her home has been burned to the ground.

*coughs, spits after writing the preceding sentence*

For those of you who hang out in Internet fiction communities . . . they’re Mary Sues, the whole lot of them. ‘Nuff said.

  20. McRae was a sports writer for the Ottawa Sun, who had visions of being a satirist. During the 90s he was angling for a reputation such as Mr Steyn has today. He was also a practitioner of the one-sentence paragraph. Unfortunately, his political commentary remains less informative than his sports reports.

    Cheers

(More a refection on the writer I think)

So how many attempts to shoot Obama so far?? A little disappointed that in a country of how many hundred million there hasnt been ONE racist white male right winger who’s a good enough shot to fulfill your fantasies?

Though, one could say the same thing about basically every other candidate the Democratic Party has trotted out both in 2004 and 2008. It’s just that the sheer ridiculousness of all the grassroots projecting is all the more obvious with people like John Kerry or Hillary. (The other week on the news I saw a female Hillary supporter describe her as demeanor as “warm”...)

  33. The newly elected president rode in back of an open limo, part of a motorcade winding its way toward his first address to Congress. Armed and anonymous, crouching behind the throng of cheering Obama supporters, Hillary is barely hidden behind a thin screen of bushes on the grassy knoll.

At peace with his beliefs and firm in the knowledge of what he must do, the handsome young leader sits with his back uncomfortably straight as a bullet pierces the explosives strapped around his waist.

In a frozen moment that seemed to end before it began, a severed head landed in the grass with a thud and rolled toward the former First Lady, oozing its contents at her feet.

Witnesses reported seeing a hysterical woman being dragged away by police screaming “It wasn’t me! I saw a man in the window of that building over there! This is all a terrible mistake, it’s a conspiracy! Let me go, let me go!”
