I MUST BE DOING SOMETHING WRONG
An award from Crikey? I should sue. Meanwhile, a more respectable award is bestowed here, in the coveted “Whose behavior made you appalled?” category.
Lavartus Prodeo is a “thoughtful, measured and insightful political blog” if you want the entire spectrum from Insane Left to merely Stalinist.
Posted by JorgXMcKie on 2006 12 22 at 08:17 PM • permalinkSounds like this Liam hates everyone, except maybe Joey, his family, and that Canadian dude he spent time with in the USA. Does that qualify as “equal opprotunity”, nihiliam, psychosis, or simple selfishness?
Posted by The_Real_JeffS on 2006 12 22 at 08:20 PM • permalinkSorry, “nihiliam” should be “nihilism”. I’m hoping what Liam has isn’t contagious.
Posted by The_Real_JeffS on 2006 12 22 at 08:21 PM • permalinkMaybe that’s the only blog Joseph Rago saw before writing his piece on blogs.

So thats who got the keys to the tardis?
Posted by thefrollickingmole on 2006 12 22 at 09:30 PM • permalinkI noticed in Liam’s “Whose behavior made you appalled?” there was no mention of the head-lopping terrorists who regularly target women and children.
Eh, he probably just forgot to mention it amidst all the rancor towards Howard, Bush, et al. Certainly proggs find terrorist behavior appalling, right?
Right?
“Two very different blogs offer a snapshot of the lightning fast rate at which blogs have developed in 2006: Larvatus Prodeo is brought to you by a group of people who produce one of the most thoughtful, measured and insightful political blogs in the country. At the other end of the spectrum, Tim Blair ...”
...is the other snapshot, meaning not thoughtful, not measured and not insightful…
Right.

“To do list for 2007: must set goals much higher!”
I’ve always been bored out of my wits by Road to Surfdom (I have tried to find it interesting, and good, and all, I really have tried, ya know?), and the content of Larvatus Prodeo has always failed to live up to its ridiculous name. Insightful? Maybe for someone with no synapses firing. Thoughtful and measured? Only if you have no measuring implements to speak of.
*Sigh*
I suppose this is a reflection of our education system now: if someone can type an entire paragraph they must be deep, and the paragraph must be worth reading. Is that how blogs are being assessed?
Sorry, I’m rambling, and being boring, but it genuinely perplexes me that certain other blogs are touted as being “must read”, yet I try and try these other blogs, and still find myself falling asleep after the first two sentences, or find myself wondering if there was a point, at all, and if so, where was it hiding.
*Sigh*
Anyway, congrats on the end of year awards and everything Tim. You can puff your chest out with pride, but only a little bit this time.

Has Liam cut off access to his posts? ‘Cuz I can’t access his previous entries. How did you get to that “vivid insight”, rinardman?

Anyway, at Crikey, Larval Rodeo is displayed in both italics and underline? Mr. Blair rates only underline…
I’m feeling very Milneish the moment—where’s Stephen Mayne that I might teach him that an absence of fonts makes the heart grow harder? Though no longer on staff, he is the founder of that waste of electrons, and I would fain thrash him soundly.
Posted by MentalFloss on 2006 12 23 at 12:44 AM • permalinkI wonder if the appalled leftard calling himself Isildur’s Bane has any idea that JRR Tolkien was a very conservative Catholic and staunch and unwavering Monarchist? Or is aware of all the obvious Roman Catholic imagery in LOTR?
Something tells me he saw the movie, but never read the book.
I think you should wear “appalling” the Loony Left as a badge of honor, Tim.

Oh, bugger, Paco has gone off his Sumerian mead again and sobered up. Dammit, this happens every Xmas.
Sigh. The same symptoms as last year.
And babies are brought by the stork
Loss of ability to spell. That is STALK, Paco!
the earth is carried on the back of a giant turtle
Forgetfulness of important facts. We FIXED that one. Bloody cross-dimensional contamination casued by that rotten swine Terry Pratchett. Oh, and Wronwright.
and I am Tecciztecatl, Aztec god of the moon.
Remembrance of unimportant facts. Well, yes, he was. Big deal. Get over it. It was a long time ago and Sumerian mead fixed teh problem anyway.

Minionmeister to the VRWCHah! I found it. Loony Liam’s little dream sequence. This time, I’ll just put it here.
Too late, tho, everyone’s gone home.I had a dream about evolution last night. The earth was being attacked covertly by these really nasty xenomorph-type creatures and people were being killed slowly at first, but then in increasing numbers as time went on, because the creatures were evolving and becoming more powerful. I had this ability to kind of “black out” for a few centuries at a time, so I thought I would black out for a few hundred years and come to when technology was better so the xenomorphs could be more easily dealt with. But when I woke up a few centuries later, most of the earth was destroyed. I met a woman who told me that it was now almost impossible to kill the creatures, as they had evolved to a state where their thoughts had become “stringy”, that is, far more advanced than when they were the simple savage beasts back in our day. Upon seeing my despair, the woman comforted me and told me not to worry. “As these things become more intelligent and evolved, eventually they will destroy themselves. It is absolutely inevitable. All living things reach a stage in their development where they become so intelligent that self-destruction becomes unavoidable.” At this point I said to her that this was of little comfort to me, because, well, look around lady, they have already destroyed most of earth. The woman replied “Oh no. No, no, no. You misunderstand, the creatures didn’t do this. No. Humans did this. That’s what you need to understand, humans became too evolved and destroyed each other and then themselves like parasites.” This new information was astonishing. I asked her, “who are you anyway? why didn’t you die with the others?” The woman replied, “isn’t it obvious? I am god.”
Oh, shit, thanks loads rinardman. I actually read that juvenile wet dream, knowing better but unable to look away.
Look, can we stop searching for further evidence of this no-load’s fatuous, self inflated idiocy?
Posted by Steve Skubinna on 2006 12 23 at 03:10 PM • permalinkYou’re welcome, Rebecca. I thought it kinda represents the sum of all lefty fears. The xenomorphs are, well…us, RWDBs. And their fear of RWDBs controlling everything by “evolving and becoming more powerful”, and “that is, far more advanced than when they were the simple savage beasts back in our day”.
And then, finally, their hope for the RWBD’s future “All living things reach a stage in their development where they become so intelligent that self-destruction becomes unavoidable”.So, let’s just stay the ignorant savages they just know we are, and rule the earth forever! :)
Thanks for digging through the garbage pile, rinardman. It’s a fascinating insight of Liam, and tells me that when I asked this, I should have emphasized “pyschosis”.

The rest of us are guzzling booze at a rate which is seriously straining global alcohol production capability in a massive effort to scrub Loony Liam’s wet dream sequence from our brains.
Bloody hell, I think it’s worth reinstating Paco’s godhood just so he can tear the still-beating heart out of the little leftist spanker.
And the last time we did that it took WEEKS to get the blood of the human (well, they were lefties… semi-human) sacrifices out of the
VRWC games room, erm..dungeon, erm, no, I’ll get it in a minute… AHA!! social activities facility.MarkL

It was the “ball court” where Paco insisted on playing Tlachtli; the problem was the requisite fate for the losers ...
