HUNDREDS DEAD, FEELINGS UNINJURED

Tavleen Singh in the Indian Express:

I was astounded at the insane political correctness we saw in the response of the political class and most of the media to last week’s ghastly bombings in Mumbai.

The issue is terrorism. Right? The issue is the terrible, needless deaths of 200 people and the awful tragedy of those who will forever be scarred by the murderous act of a handful of evil men. Right? The issue is the failure of our intelligence agencies and our criminal justice system and the inability of our government to understand that terrorism is undeclared war. Right? The issue is India’s security in which both Hindus and Muslims have an equal stake. Right?
Yet, if you watched television coverage of the carnage on Mumbai’s trains, read your newspapers or listened to the speeches of our political leaders, you would think that the only issue was to not hurt Muslim feelings.

Interesting that this level of media anxiety over offending Muslims is some kind of universal global standard. Read the whole thing.

UPDATE. Further to recent news of intra-Islamic splodeyness, more trouble among the brotherhood:

Muslim leaders in Canada have reacted with fury after a radical advocate of Sharia law revealed that he had been a government spy who helped to uncover an alleged al-Qaeda plot ...

[Mubin] Shaikh, who has declined an offer to enter Canada’s witness protection scheme, is unrepentant, calling the suspects dangerous “fruitcakes” who deserved to be jailed.

The self-professed fundamentalist believed in holy war in Iraq and Afghanistan but not in Canada, he said.

“I wanted to prevent the loss of life. There are no combatants on the downtown streets of Toronto,” he said.

Nada Farooq, the wife of Zakaria Amara, one of the accused 17, said: “I know this man. May Allah curse him and make him suffer.”

  1. Israel is the one country that knows the problem and doesn’t apologise for trying to stop it. Sadly, everyone gets upset at them for it.

  2. You have to impress Islamists with unremitting tolerance lest they fail to approve of you.

I don’t see the point, unless you’re trying to date them.

I’d be grateful for his help if he wasn’t such a self-serving little prick.  He’s got a nice cushy little nest in Canada and doesn’t want to foul it, but Muslim-inflicted carnage is perfectly okay elsewhere.

  4. Many thanks to our muslim guests that we invited to share our country and way of life for their contribution to the well being and prosperity of the nation.

    Outstanding job.

Even so, enemies are much easier to deal with when they have some sense of self-interest and self-preservation.  Right now I’ll take what I can get.

      I love it!

Nice to hear a Muslim stray from the talking points.  There’s hope yet.

Re Israel, I hope they get the job done before the media whips up peace talk fever, as in the “worsening situation” talk this morning.  Worsening?  Couldn’t be better—the world is about to become Hezbollah-free.

  8. As Victor davis Hanson(i think)wrote, in there own countrys muslims make and enforce the harshest laws, but in other countries they exploit everyone elses this makes them two time winners, they get to rule you with a rod of iron while doing exactly as they please, its no surprise to me that they despise us, as we routinly give them the consideration they wouldnt dream of giving us.

  10. The media is just mouthing the logical inferrence of Just War Theory, which is what we are using to run this war.  I’ve come to the conclusion that Just War Theory, with its overweening concern for enemy civilians and ideal of Proportionality, is a formula for perpetual war.  You cannot put the lives of anyone under the enemy’s pall before your own population, and certainly not before your own forces - which we do on a daily basis.  For all the vaunted philosophy behind Just War Theory, it is turning out to be another deadly step-child of multiculturalist PC political theory.

I abhor stupid senseless death as much as the next rational person.  I’ve come to see that if we are to avoid more stupid senseless death, we must begin fighting to win.  We must begin to treat the enemy - Islamism - and not the tactic - terrorism.  Only then will we recognize that we ought to be fighting an unapologetically coordinated war with Israel.

Why is it that we worry what the likes of China and Russia, and god help us, France thinks about us when Iran stands up and spits on world opinion with impunity?

  11. You’re gettin’ there, salty. Now, define the difference between ‘Islamism’ and ‘Islam.’

  13. I’m waiting for AddamsFamily to come in and reveal that Canada is largely ignoring this story - not causing a ripple.
.. just like the last time he claimed that, its been all over the front of the papers here in Canada for the past week.

Although probably not in Quebec.  Chalise!

  14. On the main web page of this morning’s ajc.com (the Atlanta Jingoistic Communist) there was not a single line about Israel’s war.  Of course, it’s really the West’s War too. They had to wait till this evening to declare “Israel steps up Lebanon attack” as if its all of Lebanon and not targeting Hezbollah.  Just another lefty rag.

Tim and the rest of y’all - keep up the good work.

  15. I am astounded by the MSM focus on the current Israel/Hezbolah conflict. It’s all about what the Aussie government isn’t doing to return the trapped “aussies"home. Bad John Howard.
Firstly a good proportion of the trapped “aussies” are probably the receiving arm for the car rebirthing racket based in Lakemba either that or they are escaping terror warrants in Australia.
Suddenly these dears become our trapped aussies.

Why don’t they report the reason for the conflict?

    Muslim terrorists, AGAIN.

  16. Isn’t ‘Sheikh The Telltale’ kind of in the same position as those journalists observing militants about to target American soldiers?  Both have a primary obligation to their fellow citizens.

Whatever the personal political views the journalists might hold, they owe a debt to citizens of the country that they live in freely.

If an Islamist can act with real courage [not seeking special protection] after realising this point, why can’t the journalists?

  17. 15#funny how they can be such good “australians” when they need help. Read there are 25,000 “Australian” Lebanese living in Lebanon. First up I got insulted at the thought they do not think Oz good enough to live in. then I got alarmed at the thought they might all come “home” to live in safety. Would someone tell Israel please not to bomb where that 25,000 live because we would hate to have them disturbed, upset or frightened. Keep them happy and keep them in Lebanon.

  18. #17 addendum to all the reporting on our poor aussies stranded in Lebanon: I have yet to see any interviews with aussies stranded in Israel (eg. Kidon’s rellos). Also, the fact that Hamas and Hezbollah started this crapfest seems to have fallen by the wayside.

    Again.

So far, my television is still functioning, but I have a lot of stuff lying around the house, and I’m getting sorely tempted to throw a few of them around.
