HEY, LEFTIES

Don’t forget David Hicks’s birthday on August 7! In case you’re still searching for a gift ...

  1. The United States’ 1.5million service personnel and Guantanamo’s 3,000 construction workers are eligible to visit the “resort”, which boasts a McDonald’s, KFC and a bowling alley.

They even have a Wal-Mart supermarket.

From the article. Maybe “boasts” is the wrong word when describing the presence of a McDonalds or a Wal-Mart. A simple “has” will suffice.

  2. Just yards from the shelves of specially branded mugs and cuddly toys, nearly 300 “enemy combatants” lie sweltering in a waking nightmare.

She’s right, you know. We should move the stuff further off, in case one of the sweltering fuckers gets loose. Wouldn’t do to have them fondling the toys.

  3. Hey, what say we take up a collection to send Hicks to the Gitmo resort?  I’m sure that DoD would be glad to see him back again.

On a related note.....the various military departments operate several such military resorts world wide.  They offer inexpensive vacation spots for military personnel and their families.  They’ve been around for years.  A classic location:  The Hale Koa Hotel, on Waikiki Beach, in Hawaii.

Gitmo? Just another choice, is all.  The gift shop is merely an added and inspired touch.

  4. There are currently 280 prisoners sweltering in cages in temperatures of up to 100F (38C)...

...Queensland’s Education Minister said the Department was still costing the installation of air conditioners in State schools. Boom tish.

Like the way Daily Mail went on to quote Reprieve lawyer Zachary Katznelson’s unbiased, authoritative account of prisoner abuse at GTMO. (Warning: pun approaching) I found the complaint of the hunger-strikers being force fed through unwashed, unlubricated nasogastric tubes particularly hard to swallow.

You sure they’re the facts, Katz?

This, from the same Yurp media that breathlessly related the horror (HORROR!) of those dastardly Gitmo jailers cranking up the air conditioning as part of their “torture” routine.

    F*cking braying ass morons.

  6. "temperatures of up to 100F”

Unlike their homes in Afghanistan where it only reaches about 120F.

  8. All to true, it does get very hot in Cuba.

I think the only humane thing to do with the Gitmo detainees is to line them up against a wall and shoot them. It’s according to the Geneva convention, after all.

  9. Guantanamo Bay base was there long before the Taliban showed up, and chances are, the resort was too.  Years ago my family and I stayed in the Army resort at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, south of Munich, and we didn’t feel at all ghoulish by being in one of Hitler’s favorite holiday spots.

  10. Ghoulish?

I’d suggest the author find out what the word means.

Google “Israel suicide bombing”, then you’ll see ghoulish.

  12. Interesting that the climate in which the “enemy combatants lie sweltering” is one that “American sunseekers” go to to “laze in the Caribbean sunshine”. Don’t “human rights activists” read what the write before they publish? Maybe they don’t need to.

I didn’t think I shared anything with that mongrel.

  16. Well, dodgybob, look at it this way: your birthday is sandwiched between the anniversaries of two nuclear blasts.

So is Hicks, but he’s officially constrained from acknowledging it, being an leftie and all.

  18. Oh Jesus,
That most worthless SOB was born on my, and my Father’s, August date?
Of course mine was in ‘42 and dear old Dad’s in ‘10.  He’s probably in a grave spinning mode and I’m forced to tell my mates, no more August 7 celebrating.
Of course, Neanderthals ("now a different species, go Darwin") we are, my mates and I will now celebrate the intergum (sp?)between Hiroshima, 8/6, and Nagasaki, 8/9.

And all these years I thought it was called the Holy Koala.  At least that’s what us Aussies called it when we were doing a spot of work with Tropic Lightning and were given a 48 hr Cindarella leave pass.

  24. Re #20, Michael, Gitmo is a pure military base, run by the Navy.  You’d have to be in the military, or have military benefits (e.g., a military retiree) to use the “resort”, or maybe go with someone with such benefits.  I recall that one of my uncles (retired Navy) spent a vacation there, once upon a time.

Still, if you’re interested, check it out.  It ain’t the Holy Kaola (h/t to KevGillet), but looks decent enough, for an Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) facility.

Kev, I once did a spot of work with the 25th ID (Light) as well.  Afghanistan 2004-2005.

Never did make it to Hawaii, darn it.
