HE SHOOTS, HE SCORES
Soccer enthusiasm is deadly:
Thai police are searching for a gunman who shot and killed two soccer fans at a beach resort after complaining they were cheering too loud during a broadcast of Italy’s World Cup opener against Ghana, officials said Wednesday.
The two men, both Thais, were watching Italy’s 2-0 win over Ghana at a restaurant Monday at the Thai beach resort town of Pattaya, and erupted in roars when Italy scored its first goal, said Panipha Wattakul, a girlfriend of one of the victims.

UPDATE. Here’s how the game should be played:

I remember clearly watching the 1986 semi-final between Germany and France in Vienna in the hotel TV room. I decided to cheer for Germany for that match sitting amongst guests. When Germany won, a Frenchman abused me loudly in his language. I didn’t understand what he was saying other than he was a tad upset. Prick. Apart from that, what I loved being in Europe at the time was the passion the locals had for soccer. I loved watching the games outside on TV in the Squares, drinking lots of beer and soaking up the atmosphere. I can imagine the atmosphere in Europe at the moment.
All I know about European soccer is a memory I have of standing in the Marienplatz with my family one day when a gang of English soccer fans went by, singing very loudly, brandishing blue wool scarves around their necks, and shoving pedestrians out of the way. We went into a shop and hid until they were gone.
How can you possibly fire a gun with just your feet?
Because, you know ... it’s about soccer and all.
I need a drink.

But if the score was 2-0 I don’t see how a Thai entered into it.
