<< CITY BLAMED ~ MAIN ~ HAPPY SORRY DAY >>
HE SAID, SHE SAID
Hillary plays the nuclear card:
Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., in an interview Monday with ABC’s Washington, DC affiliate WJLA, accused Democratic presidential rival Barack Obama of suspicious activity after being asked why she hasn’t disclosed her income tax returns.
“Senator Obama has some questions to answer about his dealings with one of his largest contributors Exelon, a big nuclear power company; apparently he cut some deals behind closed doors to protect them from full disclosure of the nuclear industry,” she said.
You know, sometimes it’s as if that dream ticket is just never going to happen. Meanwhile, Clinton’s SUV addicted, non-jet pooling opponent is banging on about the warmening:
“We are going to cap the greenhouse gases that cause global warming,” he told his audience in Baltimore. “We are going to take some of the money that’s generated from fining polluters, and we are going to spend billions of dollars on solar, wind and biodiesel. We will hire young people who don’t have a trade and give them a trade making homes more energy efficient, insulating homes, changing light bulbs, reducing our dependence on dirty power plants.”
So that’s the change Obama believes in; changing light bulbs. Happier news: in California, they’ve revived the spirit of Florida 2000:
An estimated 49,500 votes were cast incorrectly in Los Angeles County by nonpartisan voters in the presidential primaries and cannot be counted because the voters’ intentions are unclear, acting Registrar Dean Logan said Monday.
The mismarked ballots were the result of a confusing ballot design and poor education of poll workers and the public, Logan said. That left many decline-to-state voters unaware of the need to fill in a bubble indicating whether they were voting in the Democratic Party or American Independent Party primary.
This sounds like a case for Greg Palast.
UPDATE. “Never mind what it pays,” writes rocketeer67. “Changing lightbulbs is a trade?”
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, Dean Logan
He was run out of King County in Seattle after the last election for Governor was a disaster. Dean’s crack staff counted 1200 more votes then they had voters giving the Democrat the election by 129 votes following the third recount.

If Palast only knew just how close he was to getting the real truth. Just so close. And this was notwithstanding paco’s doing his Deep Throat, er, Mark Felt I-want-to-feel-powerful-so-I’ll-tattle-on-the-President imitation.
“psst. Palast. Yeah, over here. Quiet. Did anyone follow you? Okay, look, you’re right. Righter than you can imagine. You can’t tell anyone, no one, but there’s a conspiracy going on involving an evil clandestine organization called—the VRWC. No, I can’t tell you what those letters mean! But they’re bad Palast. Very bad. And they have to be stopped. Now I’m going to give you the name of one of the ringeaders, okay? But I could lose my life for this, so please don’t ask me anything more. It’s Karl. No, I don’t have his last name. But he’s got power Palast. Real power. Now out of my way. I must flee!”

It’s a classic tragedy but sometimes you need to take a hit to go forward. I was never a massive fan of Howard (particularly on gun control and welfare) but was pragmatic and realised that he was the best defence against leftoid lunacy. The ALP needed to swing right to recapture ground.
McCain will steer to the right if there’s enough pressure. A Obama or Clinton win would set back the Conservative agenda years and do more damage to the US than a 10 term McCain presidency.
Murph
I will vote for McCain over Obama because he is a walking disaster.
I will probably vote for McCain over Hillary as well. I don’t see much difference between the two on domestic considerations, but the thought of her being “Commander-in-Chief” makes me want the throw-up.
The real fight is keeping enough conservative members in Congress to press the fight, and to give the Blue Dog Democrats some leverage. We just lost our 29th US Rep yeaterday when John Shadegg announced that he will not run.
I see it differently. After two or three administrations by one party, the country needs a change. If for no other reason than to remind all Americans how thoroughly inept the Democrats are in running both domestic policy and foreign affairs. Otherwise, any problems would be blamed on the party in power.
I want Hillary to win. If Obama wins, he will use his skin color to protect him from all criticism. The same way that African-American mayors (e.g., Detroit mayor) and congresspersons (e.g., McKinney, the Louisiana guy with bribery cash in his freezer) do now. Any complaints, no matter how reasonable and valid, would be greeted with claims of racism. Low expectations would rule the day. Low results would follow.
If Hillary wins, my bumper sticker (“IMPEACH THE BITCH and his wife”) goes up the next day.

-A description of pending US legislation to give tax breaks to union-friendly, Democrat-leaning companies. The name of the bill:
The PAtriotic COrporation Act.#18
That’s a great bumper sticker, although I would insert “chupacabra” in there.:)
I think you are talking about William Jefferson. Dear Cynthia is already toast.
I was contemplating voting for the chupacabra under the theory that this would be the fastest way to get Congress back but I don’t think I can physically vote that that person.
I assume this will mean the return of link-boys, to guide Londoners home in the evening?
Via Right Angles
yojimbo,
Cynthia held a safe seat in Georgia. She lost her bid for reelection only because she ran against another African-American woman Democrat who seemed the more competent of the two.
I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong. But it just seems like everyone has low expectations for African-American politicians. Mayor Barry of Washington D.C. can smoke crack and finally go to prison where he’s accused of receiving oral sex from women visitors in the presence of families visiting other prisoners. And it receives only a yawn. William Jefferson can be discovered to have cash in his freezer and people only shrug.
Low expectations, that’s what the MSM would have for Obama. Can you imagine Michelle Obama’s reaction if someone actually criticized the performance of her husband? I’d bet it be something to the effect of “you crackers are always trying to keep the black man down”.

#25: I think Wronwright is correct in his assessment. As long as African-Americans “mind themselves” and stay safely on the Democratic plantation, they tend to get a pass. Those African-Americans who try to break the mold by, say, criticizing the concept of permanent victimhood, or - God forbid! - running for office as Republicans get crucified.
No, I don’t think you’re wrong. There are competent African American candidates, they are just in the wrong party. A good example would be Lt Governor Steele of Maryland who lost because he was a Republican. The Dem’s did a search and destroy mission on him. The Republican party doesn’t practice identity politics like the Democrats do, we only look for similar values. Another good example would be Bobby Jindal of La.
One fine day, “minorities” are going to wake-up and discover this. That might be the only upside to an Obama victory in that he doesn’t have much need for the old civil rights power structure that exists today. If, and when, that group finally loses its power we will see a great many changes for the better.
“We are going to take some of the money that’s generated from fining polluters, and we are going to spend billions of dollars on solar, wind and biodiesel”
Because biodiesel is a zero emission fuel? Because fines from polluters amount to billions of dollars? (Talk about being from the Windy City, that’s some gaseous load Obama is working on.)
“We will hire young people who don’t have a trade and give them a trade making homes more energy efficient”
Because the federal government—and uniquely the president—is the source of jobs, and of course, all wisdom in the US.
As I read somewhere else: Will Obama rest on the seventh day?
Hey, I just found this picture of Julia Gillard opening the official Kevin Rudd Think Fest. Good luck, Australia!
Who cares about the US election, sorry day or the KRuddfest.
Let’s get our priorities in order - this is real important news - Sophie’s single !

I’ll settle this. You’re both corrupt Dem politicians. You both use the power of your offices to enrich yourselves. I know it, you know it, the whole world knows it.
Now, play nice, and get back to promising everyone something for nothing, which is the only way any of you socialists could ever win any election (that wasn’t rigged).
Posted by Dave Surls on 2008 02 12 at 07:29 PM • permalinkOver at No Pasaran!, I think I found a comment that perfectly illustrates the Obama campaign.
Obama is running the political equivalent of a Jerry Seinfeld show: A campaign about nothing(TM). He mouths platitudes about change—all the while making sure that nobody ever asks him specific questions about what he will change.
That might work in the primaries, comrade Obama, but it won’t work in the general election. And one thing we know about McCain—he’s just impolitic enough to ask those questions that you can’t answer. Better crack open those books, Barry!
Frank P. Hart | 02.12.08 - 22:57 |Obama, the campaigning about nothing. I do wonder why he doesn’t ever offer any substance? No I don’t, not really. He’s so hard left there’d be no one but the radical fringe backing him if he fessed up.
He’s not empty, he’s being obscure for a reason.
“I don’t watch his show”
If you’ve seen the movie “Dumb and Dumber” you’ll have an idea what the “Obama Commie Comedy Hour” is all about.

What makes people like Nancy Pelosi wo abysmally stupid is their belief that beneath the desk in the Oval Office is a dial marked “oil prices” and that every morning Bush and Cheney get together to decide how much to crank it.
The Prsident doesn’t create any jobs, unless he hires some guy to mow the White House lawn - and unless he pays the guy out of his own pocket.

If he gets the nomination, I’m so hoping he picks John Edwards as the veep candidate. With all the entertainment dollars supporting the Democratic machine, having a presidential ticket that’s essentially the political equivalent of a vapid boy band would be just perfect.
Just an update to the story started at 28 by paco.
The Berkeley City Council is now FOR the Marines just against the war. Yeah, sure, of course. I can just hear them chanting now: “God bless the assassins and babykillers, each and every one. Bring them home now so they are free to kill and slaughter on their own streets.”
