Anna is indeed a honey, but I’m boggled that she can’t follow the news, and figure it out for herself. Mentally, Anna is following in the path of Annika. I just hope she takes better care of herself.

As for Annika, she looks exactly as I would expect for someone who has just been to a UN summit.
As for Anna (8) maybe she is actually in the Dominican Republic rather than the UN I can’t believe that someone could look that good and that happy and be at the UN.

* Number of UN member states that are full-fledged democracies or “fully free” according to Freedom House: 88.
* Number of UN member states: 191.
* Thefore % of UN member states which are full-fledged democracies: 46%.Really, it’s time for the Western democracies to pick up their collective balls and go home. The civilised world is getting nowhere in this cabal of dictators. We need a body comprised only of democracies. True, this will include France and Germany but the flea-bitten Middle East and most of Africa will be out.

Santiago’s got that down-to-earth, realistic world view that can’t be grasped by the high panjandrums whose view of the world is from the proverbial 30,000 feet. The “local recycler” epithet is high euphemism. The fact that he has the most sense of anyone presented by the BBC in that piece is quite sad, but not surprising.
Someone (Fox News perhaps?) give that man a job!
France? Belgium?! Mark Steyn suggested moving the UN to Dar Es Salaam. Think of other cities you would like to see UN diplomats live in. Khartoum? Lagos? Oh, there are so many more appropriate lacations for the UN than Belgium.

Viva Santiago! Why is it the people who clear up the trash have a clearer understanding of how the world works, than the cocktail-and-canape crowd? I’m also worried about that guy who apparently works a 12-hour day in the UN cafeteria. No freedom fries for him!
