GORE OR MOORE

Chris Middendorp rates Michael Moore and Gore Vidal:

Some might think of Vidal is a kind of highbrow Mike Moore: both men appear to be driven by a hatred of American hypocrisy and a desire to expose phoneys in powerful positions. They are both utterly American, albeit different kinds of American: Moore plays slob to Vidal’s swell. Both Moore and Vidal are united in their belief that George W. Bush is malfeasance incarnate. Moore, however, is a vulgar populist who bends facts to suit his arguments. Vidal, by contrast, is a scrupulous researcher ...

Whoa there, Middendorp! Vidal’s “scrupulous research” reveals that Iraq was friendly to the US, that the power of corporate media is absolute, and that George W. Bush “went on for about three years getting ready for the Iraq war, saying that Osama bin Laden, responsible for the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington, was working hand in glove with Saddam Hussein.”

He also believes that rabbits can bark.

  7. Both Vidal and Moore are jerks, Vidal is just smoother about it. 

    And no, rabbits can’t bark, but they can scream.  And they bite, too.  I’ve got the scars to prove it.
