GORE LATEST

Al Gore and his notorious Effect have left town; Sydney’s skies are currently almost entirely cloudless, with beautiful sunny weather forecast for the weekend.

UPDATE. Clear skies also reported in Melbourne and Canberra. Gore is now in Perth, which so far is proving Effect resistant. So far.

  1. Yup - the skies are currently clear and blue in Melbourne as well.

  2. Lovely and blue in Canberra too.

Using the leftwing definition, it sounds like we have reached scientific consensus on the Al Gore Effect.

  4. #2,
Well we now have a total of 3 data points, that should be enough to extrapolate hundreds of years into the future.....

  5. Even better, we have NO data which contradicts our theory. Which is more than can be said for AGW.....

I hereby demand that anyone that disputes the Al Gore Effect should be burned at the stake, like the medieval denialists that they are.

  6. I see a single black cloud hovering over Moonbat central in my local city.  The Al Gore Effect typifies Moonbats: pessimistic, cloudy, glass half empty etc.

They’re about to be verified carbon neutral (1st TV show), including their competitions.

It might be worth pursuing an issue in slightly more depth before posting about it.

Not all storms look the same, you see…

In other cricket news, injuries to Martyn and Watson and for England, Harmison, are going to make mess of various First Test plans. Tomorrow I’m going to see Shawn Tait and see what he can do.

  13. It may be sunny in Perth, but after a dry winter, there was a brief torrential thunderstorm over Kalgoorlie last night, bucketing down with rain.... possible induced by the vapour trails of Gore’s jet.  More please.

  15. #7 Blow it out your arse.

Perhaps one of the most apt and perceptive posts in a long while.

    T’s
:  You realise that being “Carbon Neutral” doesn’t mean that they don’t pollute, don’t you?  It only means that the neutral-one pays some-one else to plant trees, supposedly to aborb the CO2 that the neutral-one emits.  Except its only a temporary store, not a disposal.  When the tree dies, it re-emits the CO2 its stored.  So much for “carbon neutral”.

    You. absolute. fuckwit.

The rich can continue to pollute as much as they want (like Al Gore with his private jets and multiple, air conditioned houses.) Its only the poor who have to give up their jobs and 20th century lifestyle and go back to living in caves.

Try considering THAT before you post in future.

    Ts:  You. absolute. fuckwit.

  16. Nicely put, SCD.

#7, becoming carbon neutral sounds like the 21st century equivalent of buying an indulgance (which is kind of apt given the religious nature of global warming and the fervour of its followers).

Let me ask you this, to get your indulgence, did you have to kiss High Priest Gore’s ring?

  20. I favor Nuremberg-style trials for the Gore Effect deniers.  This has the advantage of keeping the World Court busy and out of everybody else’s hair, as well as cleansing society of unbelievers.

  31. Wimpy, it didn’t snow in Brisbane.  It never snows in Brisbane.

Queensland is somewhat like Florida in climate, which was why it was unusual to get snow on the southern border two weeks out of summer.

It snows in Queensland as much as it does in Florida.

    That’s the Gore Effect.

  39. #37, Dave, I can’t claim credit for the indulgences analogy, I’m pretty sure someone here came up with it several months ago.

#19, Paco, I just knew that the Paco clan had something to do with it!

By the way, have you considered a merger between your carbon credits business and your timber plantation interests?

That way, you could get gullible greenies to subsidise a large portion of your plantation operation (of course you wouldn’t want to tell them that you’re ultimately going to chop down the trees in the end).
