GOBBLER GONE
A turkey fix from Bloomberg:
(Corrects to delete reference to fake turkey in third paragraph.)
UPDATE. You can’t keep a fake bird down:
Fake turkeys: The faux bird that accompanied Bush on his first surprise trip to Iraq in 2003 is left home alone.
What a disjointed mess that column is; is that what’s called “stream of unconsciousness” journalism?

When they get so incoherent that all you can do is watch for buzzwords tumbling by in the torrent, that means it’s “passionate”.
If a given talking point is pasted in verbatim three or more times, it’s “devastating”.

1. We’re gonna kidnap Philip Adams.
2. We’re going put him on the same flight as George Bush, the one headed to Iraq.
3. Once in Iraq we’re gonna cover him in boot polish and give him an Osama beard, then dump him in a house near Bagdad after taking a picture of him.
4. We’re gonna contact the US Air Force and tell him where they can find al-Zarqawi’s newist replacement who is called Mohammed Adams.
5. Pray that the airstrike is accurate.
6. Blame his tragic demise on that fake turkey.Well, when you have no real facts on your side, I guess you go with whatever you can dredge up. It’s passing odd that they don’t see how ignorant this stuff shows them to be.

I sent Ms. O’Hara an email about her faux faux turkey blurb. Knock ‘em down one at a time. Sooner or later they (and their editors) will become sensitized to any mention of plastic, fake or faux turkeys. Or so we can hope.
Posted by Kyda Sylvester on 2006 06 17 at 02:25 PM • permalinkDo not imagine that the plastic-turkey situation is anywhere near under control.
The plastic turkey sometimes flies beneath the newspaper level, but thrives in blogs and groups. The anti-plastic-turkey forces have but scratched the surface.

But - polar bears are drowning (or walking dryshod), marines are butchering Iraqis, Israelis are bombing beach-goers, and all you, Tim Blair, can do is claim victory on a story that is soooo 2003?
