  1. Goodes or Judd deserve it. Goodes in particular is amazing. I just wish they played for Carlton.

  2. I’ve got 4 different bets on Goodes and will get on further today.
My earlier bets are at $2.50 and $2.60. Maybe if I wait a few hours
    I’ll get him at $3.00

  3. As long as the Swans win on Saturday… It’s been a year since they last won a premiership.

  4. Swans/West Coast games are “heart stoppers”. I’ve found if you drink
beer steadily during the game, your heart keeps going and reacts
better to moments of extreme tension during the game.

  5. $21 on Nick Dal Santo....you’ve got to be kidding!

OK, I admit I don’t have a clue what that means. Just wanted to get in on this Aussie sports betting thread.

    Carry on.

  6. Paul Roos reckons Barry Hall could be a smokey.  Yesterday Sportsbet had him at 200/1. Today he’s 9/1.

  7. But I see Centrebet’s got Hall at 125/1. Bazarre.

  8. Haven’t had any “leaks” to speak of so far this year. What’s
    a Brownlow without a leak?

  9. For those unfamiliar with the Brownlow Medal, it goes to the player[s] (can be a tie) voted (by umpires, can you imagine?) not only best on the ground for each week’s game —but also the stealthist ball-crusher, ear biter, jaw/nose breaker, kidney cruncher, king hitting son of a bitch on the field.

“Best and Fairest” Ha! More like “Best and Not-Get-Caughtiest”.

  13. I can just imagine Jack “Captain Blood” Dyer’s comments about having a fashion parade at footy’s night of nights, the Brownlow.
    Wouldn’t be pretty or PC.

    My cash is on Juddy.

  14. Pity Kerr punched that bloke in the jatz crackers and got rubbed out, or we could have been having the third west coaster in a row to win the Brownlow, as he has had another fantastic season after coming second last year to Cousins… Judd, while his usual brilliant self this year, did miss 5 weeks with a hammie, so that does reduce his chances, while the fact that our great mid field usually takes votes away from each other would also be a hindrance to Judd and Cousins…

Goodes and Hall are the really big names at Sydney, so i imagine Goodes could be a fair chance tos tick in the umps minds when awarding the points....

But I could live with a Cousins or Judd repeat and the flag this year…

  15. OT But according to Jennifer Marohasy’s blog (find it yerself, lazy bastards)we could be in for a little ice age in 2030.

We’re going to have to burn some fossil fuels or else the polar bear freezes…

"The dramatic finding comes from a study of ocean circulation in the North
Atlantic , which found a 30% reduction in the warm currents that carry water
    north from the Gulf Stream"

Warmening leads to meltening leads to coldening…

  20. And back to the Brownloe, which is much more important than global warming/cooling etc etc :

    Big Cox to go hard!!

And I am going to be at the MCG watching WCE do the Swans Eagle style.

    You effing beauty!!

Banfield has to play so that he can run out and knock Barry into the next decade and then gracefully resign.

(Did anyone else listening to the 10 coverage on Saturday hear the plonker calling WCE Melbourne about 10 times!!)

  21. #5 Rinardman, you’re right, Dal Santo couldn’t win if he was fired out of a cannon.

OT - Own up. Which one of you is doing moonbat impressions? Very funny, Mulga Mumblebrain!

  22. #20 Razor, if the Brownlow is so important, how come you couldn’t spell it properly???  :o)

And I think Banfield is just about past it, and could be an unwarranted risk to take into the game next week, even it might be his last game and there are all these sentimental reasons etc… He and Jones made a few mistakes against Adelaide, and wasn’t it Banfield who was under that ball in the last few seconds when it went into Sydney’s forward line and they kicked the winning goal against us a couple of weeks back…

He is getting a bit old and slow, and I dunno if anything less than our 100% best team will be enough on Saturday… We can’t really take passengers in, even it it might make us feel all warm and fuzzy…

  25. The best player this year has been Brad Johnson but I don’t see a forward winning the brownlow.

    Posted by Anthony_ on 2006 09 25 at 03:52 AM • permalink

  26. #25 - A forward would have to kick 130-odd goals I’d reckon.
    Go Goodesy!
    Go Swans!

  29. So why is Barry Hall not a favourite, or close to favourite? Surely he is even more important to the Swans thann Goodes?

  30. Cos Hall is a thug, shouts a lot, is ugly, gets cheap haircuts and plays for the Sidderney Swans.

No hope of a Brownlow in this life.
