GIANT PUPPET POLLUTION

Shadow Minion asks: “Will the Stop the War Coalition be buying carbon credits to offset the additional pollution caused by their protest march down George Street during peak hour?”

I’m guessing here, but I think the answer may be no.

  1. We don’t need to get permission as such to hold a demonstration.

And we don’t need UN resolutions to kill arseholes.

  3. .....only court intervention would stop the march taking place.

I understand billyclubs and no.10 birdshot does a pretty good job, and is a lot cheaper than a court appearance.

A pity indeed that Morrie Iemma is no Bob Askin.

BTW- what about the water that goes into the papier-mache’ heads, and can the newsprint used be recycled once its been soaked in (wholemeal) flour and recycled water (or some other goo with the same look and consistency, don’t ask- I leave it to your imagination, taking into account the compulsive onanism involved in such sanctimony).

  4. Hey, nobody informed me that Cheney was coming to oz.  I work my arse off at being a good evil right wing crusader puppet, and I’m completely ignored?  You know, sometimes all it takes is a quick call to keep your minions happy.  If you’re reading this Dick, I have a shitload of your Iraqi oil and the stock piles of eyes stolen from Afghani children in my backyard.  You need to collect it all soon or I’m selling it to Israel.

  5. Stop the War Coalition is doing such good work. They’re having a “Stop the War” demo in in Sydney, a city that has never been a field of war. Strange logic, wonder if it would work in Darfur?

  6. Maybe they’re protesting about the Jap midget subs shelling the place in ‘42, but shouldn’t they be picketing the Japanese consulate, or a Mitsubishi dealership?

  7. Mounted water cannons, with soap and disenfectent in the mix, then fired at very high pressure would do the trick.
Only under Labor Governments, do our Police have to ‘negotiate’ with the, weird, wacky, Ideologues, and Vandals that think they are exercising their ‘democratic rights’. Obviously some of Labor’s core constituents, as we found out here in ‘Brackistan’. The irony here is, under the system, that some of them advocate, you would not have ‘democratic rights’.

Hey Tim, don’t you know that the necessity of purchasing carbon credits is automatically waived for those “speaking truth to power”?  It’s the highest form of patriotism and clearly merits a release from the onerous burden of carbon-offsetting.

  10. #9 kcom, my carbon credit trading fund trustees haven’t yet decided whether truth-speakers will be exempt. They’re favouring organic veggie gardeners at present, but people who pedal bicycles & paddle kayaks are in there with a chance, as long as they don’t generate carbon emissions through nose, mouth or epidermis.

  16. France (and maybe Britain); yet another victim of global warming.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/02/21/whornets21.xml

Global warming has largely been blamed for the survival and spread of the Asian Hornet, Vespa velutina, which is thought to have arrived in France from the Far East in a consignment of Chinese pottery in late 2004.

  17. GLOBAL warming will take a toll on children’s health, according to a new report showing hospital admissions for fever soar as days get hotter.

The study is by a pediatrician, which just goes to show there is no limit to who can milk gerbil warning for a quid. The pediatrician says warmer weather brings a rise in gastroenteritis and fever. He doesn’t say that colder weather brings a rise in influenza and respiratory illnesses. Expect he will be off to warmer climes next winter to study the problem further. Tahiti? South of France? Greek islands?

  20. The police team started well but faded in the second half.
Meanwhile, back in the pollie v. media match, the ALP were backed into a corner of their own making.
Given the repeated calls for less in Iraq and more in Afghanistan, the Government looks like it will oblige.
I award the Pants of Perspicacity to whoever it was that asked Kevin Rudd how long the troops would need to be in the aforementioned Afghanistan!

  27. Don’t know how it’s handled in the Land of Oz, but our 1st Amendment guarantees the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances (note the qualifier “peaceably”). It does not guarantee the right to “march”, cause “major disruption” or disregard local ordinances. Of course, you wouldn’t know that to listen to the lefties. When they’re not allowed to create mayhem at will, they howl about police state repression of their civil rights. Leftys, huh, yeah, what are they good for, absolutly nothing, uh-huh, say it again, y’all…

Over at rebase’s Point Carbon link, they’re touting Carbon Markets Insight 2007, the premier event for the world’s carbon markets (confirmed keynote speaker: none other than Algork, fresh from his Oscar triumph—feeeeeel the excitement). This will be the largest carbon market conference to date (previous record set in 2006: 1250 delegates from over 60 countries). Cost for the 2-day conference: $1,570 USD plus VAT, not including accommodations or conference workshops. No mention of what percentage of the conference fee(s) would be used to offset what will surely be an enormous carbon footprint. Must be an oversight.

  29. Classic, Habib.

During the controversial Bodyline series of 1932-33, the English captain Douglas Jardine was said to have visited the Australian dressing room to complain bitterly to his counterpart Bill Woodfull that an Australian player had called him a bastard. Woodfull turned to his team and said: “Which one of you bastards called this bastard a bastard?”

  30. Rights are invested in the individual, and no right can be claimed that abrogates the rights of another.  This is what it means to be equal before the law.  The mob requires no official protection from an individual.  The collectivists never define what a “right” is, but use the term as a bludgeon against any who speak against them.  Thus we have the perversion of a gang of hooligans shouting down an invited speaker at a university in the name of free speech, or this bunch claiming a right to break the laws, and trample the rights of others to go about their daily business without interference.

  32. ABC Ruddio National News this a.m. stated about the protests that KRuddy wished to ‘speak to Cheney about US involvement in Iraq’, this statement was repeated as the final news item also, as if of import, no transcript.

ABC spin to make it appear that the KRudder is doing something on the issue?
... Mad Max massaging her ABC connections?

They’re preaching to the Left, I guess, but I hope that the public (eventually) sees KRuddy’s hollowness for what it is.

Water cannon can be even better when NOT directed at the proplr you wish to discourage. Instead aim about 2 M in front of them. Anything on the ground gets picked up and sent back as a high speed missile. If it was up to me theyd be allowed to protest on gravel. Trust me, Ive used it and its a bit like a massive non-lethal shotgun.
