The radical left have always backed the losing side, Fascism, Communism and most recently Islamism. That their stated concern for human rights doesn’t extend to Jews is a double-standard with no worthwhile explanation. Then starts the argument that “I’m not anti-semitic, I’m anti-Zionist (but I cheerfully overlook every terrible thing done in the Middle East daily unless it was done by Israel, the only Jewish state which I criticise ceaselessly)”

The Islamofascists are religuos supremacists, The Neo Nazis are racial supremacists and the Left are intellectual supremacists.
Because they are all supremacists they believe they have some higher calling and higher understanding than the rest of us. It allows them to think of everyone else as lesser beings, the first step in dehumanising your opponents that allows one to kill their fellow man. That is why all their heroes are mass murderers and why they excuse the mass murder of their heroes.
Cindy Sheehan has flushed out all the extremists and allowed the rest of us to realise we are the tolerant middle, they are the bearers of intolerance and hatred.
