<< THE BOLD AND THE 7.30 REPORT ~ MAIN ~ CLEANER ASKED >>

FORGIVENESS REQUESTED

Mother Sheehan asks that her son’s killers forgive her:

If I met the mother of the person whose bullet killed my son, I would say I don’t blame your son, your family or your country. I blame the administration for sending our children to invade and occupy a country that’s not a threat to the United States ... I ask forgiveness from all Iraqis, including the one who killed my son.

Thing is, Casey Sheehan wasn’t killed by a lone gunman; the attack that left Sheehan and seven other soldiers dead involved multiple RPGs and small-arms fire. It’d be quite a crowd from whom Mother would be begging forgiveness, if ever she gets a chance to meet them personally: “You, the guy who launched the first grenade? Please forgive me. And you, the snarling fellow; I understand you were among several shooting at my son. Forgive me. Second grenade launcher, way over in the back there? Next to the third machine gunner? My apologies.” And so on.

  1. This “Sheehan” gag is really starting to go over the top. I’m sure people like that really exist, but stuff like this just destroys the suspension of disbelief. NICE TRY, NEOCONS!!

  7. Absolutely beyond belief.  I think now we can all agree:  this woman has no concept of maternal love, or true love of any kind.  She’s the star of her own movie and everything and everyone else, including her own child, is a prop in it.

  8. Let’s encourage Mother Dhimmwitty and her Twin THE FISK to travel to Iraq and to pick a Shitte street corner where the terrorists let go one of their child-killing presents and announce to a crowd that they apologize to the terrorists for Coalition forces freeing Iraq from Sadass. Afterwards, Fisk can thank the crowd for their response in beating his ass with a mule driver and for tossing the Sheehan into a garbage pit.

  13. I saw a show last night with interviews of couples who had lost sons and daughters serving in Iraq.  All of them were plainly grieving and yet every last one of them spoke of how proud they were of their children and of the cause they’d volunteered, fought, and died for.  You had to see it, mere words can’t convey how powerfully moving it was.  Not one of them mentioned or even alluded to Sheehan, but every word, gesture, and tear was a devastating rebuke to her selfish, contemptible posturing.

  15. News of some more masters of the public conscience, from Bill Hobbs’ blog:

    It Moved Me

David All, communications Director U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Georgia, Vice-Chairman of the House Republican Conference, reports that MoveOn.org’s anti-war ads in the Congressman’s district have proved a flop. All writes:

So I wanted to follow-up with you to give you the results of MoveOn.org’s efforts… Drumroll please….

Amount of cash MoveOn.org spent to hire actors for the commercial: $20,000

Amount of cash MoveOn.org spent to purchase the b-roll film of UK soldiers which they called US soldiers: 5,000 pounds (see here).

Amount MoveOn.org allegedly spent in Georgia’s first district on a media buy: $480,000 (see here).

      And the results…

ZERO calls, emails, or letters resulting from the ad: PRICELESS

Has any political organization ever raised and spent as much as MoveOn with so little to show for it?

  17. Were the ads useless? Well, that depends on who the target audience is.

Remember, MoveOn.org doesn’t exist to change anyone’s mind. It exists to stroke the egos of those who have drunk the Kool-Aid, and to coax dollars from their pockets. (That some of those dollars adhere to the fingers of those who run MoveOn.org - if only in the form of salaries and bennies - may be taken as a given.)

As a tool of persuasion, the ads are less than useless. But as a tool for demonstrating to the Faithful their own Importantance, Sensitivity, and Superiority - and thus to coax more of those dollars from said Faithful - my guess is that they worked very well indeed.

  25. I have never understood why she is misrepresenting her son in this way. I have a son of a similar age, I would have been less than happy if he had voluntered for Iraq, but I’m damned if I would have dishonoured him by lying if he had been killed. By the standards of motherhood, she is a disgrace. By the standards of any ethical human being, she is a disgrace. I felt sorry for her at first, thinking she was crazy with grief and not responsible for her actions, but as this sorry sage goes on, I’ve come to despise her.

Maybe she can buy her sons killers a drink next time they’re in town - oops forgot, jihad warriors dont pollute themselves with alcohol. I hope her son comes back and haunts her for her disloyalty and hypocrisy.

  26. Yeah, like the above guy said, I wonder how far through her neck they’d have to carve before she felt like she’d made it up to them. And then, after seeing her daughter’s dripping head held up on Al Jazeera, would Grandmother Sheehan have to take responsibility?

It has become increasingly apparent to me, that the most salient feature of left-wing politics is self-loathing. So really, treason = suicide.

  27. ‘... a country that’s not a threat to the United States ...’

Mother Sheehan and her cheerleaders seem to be existing in another world.  When the US ran away from Vietnam, they could afford to do so.  The problems which resulted from the north’s victory were largely regional.

Does anyone seriously imagine that withdrawal, and cha-chaing with tyrants will end the threat of Islamist extremism?  Globalism and advanced technologies put us all within reach of those who hate us.  When you crawl under the bed you get your arse kicked.

  28. She’s been listening to Bill Clinton and his world apology tour. He and Jimmy Carter have apologized for the US involvement in the steam engine, penicillan, polio vaccine, WWI, WWII, WOT, Tsunamis, hurricanes, levees in NO,Al Capone, Hitler, Tojo, Mussolini and Stalin. There’s so much more she can work with. Apologizing to the terrorists who killed Casey doesn’t seem to faze her. Whatta sadsack.

  30. Sad how this woman has been consumed by celebrity.

I’d say that it’s more a case of celebrity being consumed by the woman. Her MSM feeders can hardly keep-up with her voracity and it seems that they are finally running low on chow (By the way, do the Geneva Conventions apply to metaphors? Somebody e-mail Andrew Sullivan, quick!).

Mother’s Shithead’s jibbering anti-Americanism certainly existed well before her soapboxophilia.

  31. She does seem to be becoming a sadder and sadder case.  Her upping of the controversy quotient with her latest remarks smacks of someone pathetically eager to hold on to the spotlight - even at the expense of seeming more and more ridiculous.

Can’t imagine how much further she could go though - apart from “discovering” that her son was actually assasinated by US special forces to stop him denouncing the war.

She’s a chickenhawk!  Why in the hell doesn’t she go to Iraq and fight alongside the “Minutemen” so that she may be one with her other fellow peace activists (that would be those awaiting the guillotine or the pay off, whichever comes first)??  Sheesh.  Can you imagine how many times her poor son has rolled over in his grave over this nutcase of a mom (“mum” for you locals)?  Unlike wronwright, I have very few STRONG and EMOTIONAL feelings but *&^&, I am getting pissed off at this nut.

  42. Richard,

The 1909 Argentine Mauser is a variation of the famous 1898 Mauser.  It was manufactured by DWM (Berlin) for export under contract to Argentina.  A factory was also later built in Argentina, although those built there are not held in as high regard as the German built ones. The action for the 1909 is widely used as the basis for many custom sport rifles and indeed the claw extractor design is second to none even after a 100 years.

The gun fires beautifully with a tight grouping.  I inherited this particular rifle from my Dad who was an excellent machinist.  He replaced the original stock with a sport type design that he carved himself from tiger/curly maple.
