FLANNERY SLIGHTLY WRONG

It’s still raining in NSW, and dam-dryness visionary Tim Flannery looks stupider every day:

Storage levels in Illawarra and Shoalhaven dams, on the New South Wales south coast, have been boosted by heavy rainfall over the past week.

Avon Dam, which supplies Wollongong, is up 14 per cent to 66 per cent of capacity, while the Nepean, Tallowa and the Fitzroy Falls dams are overflowing.

And overall storage levels in the Sydney catchment have reached 50 per cent for the first time in three years.

The magnitude of Flannery’s error began at 922,500 megalitres, grew to more than 950,000 megalitres, and now stands at 1,250,000 megalitres - or 330,215,064,051.95 US gallons.

  1. Here in the Hunter Valley we have 100% capacity at all of our major dams.Something like 10 years of water storage. This is because the dams were built in the first place. Wouldn’t have happened if the eco-fascists were in control. Their manifesto is “Build no dams, use less water, die of thirst.”

  2. MareeS, you don’t seem to understand the full impact of global warming. Oh yeah, ten year’s storage sounds great now. But if all goes according to predictions based on the latest climate models, it’ll freeze solid in nine.

We’ll all die of thirst just the same.

  6. With all the rain at present and the critics coming out of the woodwork, Flannery’s comeback to this criticism of him could be

‘this is just a passing phase’

But then that is a credible argument against his whole gorbalworgning fear driven proposition.

Gore in Cannes addressing the advertising industry has used the successful spreading of gorbalworgning fear among children world wide as a kind of success he is enjoying.

Let’s hope he runs for Democratic presidency and gets flogged mercilessly at the polls. Then he’ll have to reinvent himself yet again.

  10. Photos of snowfalls in and around Mt Victoria , Blackheath and reports of significant snowfalls in Oberon NSW are floating around the net. These places have not had significant falls for some years.

This may be due to a global warmthing whoops strike that. Make that climate change ...

As we all are aware (thanks to the learned ,including our esteemed Australian of the Year), when the climate changes thats because of man induced climate change…In fact coincidentally any occurence known to man is -  due this nasty phenomena.
Note to the Punters:Do not use the following method; Some wives are climate change sceptics.
When I was home late from the Pub slightly the worse for wear on Fri night I was asked why I was so late. Thinking remarkably quickly considering my state ,I went for the “Flannery response”.
“Itshhh due to crimate change darleeeng”.

She used quite harsh words in response. I don’t think she is as enlightened as me on matters of global significance…..

  12. I’ve finally figured it out.
After deep and meaningful Einstein-like deep thinking, I hereby conclude:

Drought is caused by global warming, and,

Flooding rains are caused by climate change.

I don’t understand why it took me so long to figure…..

    * plus/minus several centuries with 90% confidence, IPCC.

  22. come on… he said “could!” Not “will!”
could leave Sydney’s dams dry in just two years
That’s like having your fingers crossed behind your back. If it doesn’t happen, you’re in the clear.
So inspired by Flannery’s clever hedging, here’s my prediction.
“The current unprecedented rainfall could cause Sydney to be completely underwater by 2009. The top of Sydney Tower could be a mere 5 metres above sea level, and enormous squid and other strange sea creatures could attack, causing havoc for helpless Sydney residents. The housing market in Sydney could crash as people move into houseboats, which could cause an economic recession.”
2009. No matter what happens, I’m safe. I used “could”.

  23. Beware Sydney!  You only have a scant 330 billion gallons of water to drink!
