FACTIONS SHOOT IT OUT

Collingwood smashes Carlton. In other tribal rivalry news:

Hamas gunmen opened fire Friday on forces of the rival Fatah and injured at least six people throughout the Gaza Strip in another setback to a new security plan aimed at halting the wave of violence plaguing the chaotic coastal area.

With 10 Palestinians wounded over a two-day period, it was the worst factional fighting since the formation of the Hamas-Fatah unity government nearly two months ago.

A “unity” government, is it?

  1. Also, Knights smashed Warriors at the death. What a pity nobody’s seen fit to smash Hamas and Fatah. Yet.

Give them time.  They’ll do it to each other.

  3. The reporter actually wrote “Hamas-Fatah unity government” in the same article as “chaotic coastal area”.  BUAWHAHAHAHAHA!!!

BTW, Tim, the Star Tribune link doesn’t work.  Further, when you search the Star Tribune’s archives (a focused Google search), the article doesn’t turn up, although the lead paragraph to the same article can be found in the Google cache for the Star Tribune.  The article appears to have been deleted.  Or did I miss it?

The closest that I can find to that article is here, again, through the Google cache for the paper.

What appears to be the article you linked to is here, in Fort Wayne, IN (from a wider Google search).  It’s similar to the cached Star Tribune version, but not exact.  Interesting.

  7. Andy, I wish that had happened in yesterday’s game, because I’m pretty sure Carlton could have beaten Collingwood easily in a hockey match.

  10. I look forward to Lowenstein’s next book, My Palestinian Answer. That ought to fix the problem.

  11. Paco, will My Palestinian Answer be printed by the Printing And Copying Organisation?

  12. Will My Palestinian Answer have maps too?  And if so, will they show the West Bank between Israel and Jordan, or will it be located in NeverNeverLand?

  13. Donachmed Duck was reported to be in a stable but critical condition. Farfur is denying responsibility.

  15. Smashed Carlton? I dont think so. Full credit to the Woods though it was only a 1 point difference at 3/4 time.

Of course it was. When they were merely launching rockets at Israeli towns, that was agreeable to both sides, and consequently not reported.

Israel is resisting the obvious temptation to roll into Gaza and kick some arse. Interestingly, there are a few Palestinians who would like this, as it would at least mean they could walk down the street with less chance of being shot by stray Islamist bullets.

    Interesting times…

  18. #11: You mean, by the same people who publish Detective Paco? Certainly not. It would destroy brand loyalty.

#12: Actually, Rebecca, I’ve had a sneak peek at the galley proofs, and Antoine’s idea of the “New Palestine” looks like this.

  19. I would think if the Printing And Copying Organisation was to print it, they could at least have some fun, you know, mark it to be sold in the comedy section, change the story inside to actually use facts, stuff like that.
