EXCUSE ME, BUT THESE MUSLIM CLERICS ARE COMPLETELY OUT OF THEIR MINDS

In Iran:

One of Iran’s most powerful clerics hinted during the Friday prayers sermon in Tehran today that last week’s London bombings could have been the work of the United Kingdom government.

Addressing worshippers at the site of Tehran University, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, who heads the powerful Guardian Council, the unelected constitutional watchdog, said, “At times they blame this [London bombings] as the work of Al’Qaeda. Al’Qaeda means [United States President George W.] Bush and [British Prime Minister Tony] Blair who were the mothers of Al’Qaeda and brought to life this illegitimate child”.

“There exists the possibility that the British government carried out this work, like the possibility [of American involvement] in the September 11 affair, since they themselves stand to benefit the most”, Jannati said.

And in Australia:

The country’s most radical Islamic cleric said yesterday he doubted whether the London bombers were Muslim, saying their actions were un-Islamic.

Melbourne’s Sheik Mohammed Omran said he would reserve judgment about the religious identity of the London bombers until more evidence emerged about them.

Sheik Omran said earlier this week that September 11 was not committed by Muslims and Osama bin Laden had no involvement, comments that John Howard branded yesterday “extraordinary and irresponsible”.

While he described the London bombings as evil, Sheik Omran doubted they were carried out by true Muslims, since millions of Londoners marched against the Blair Government’s involvement in the war in Iraq.

He said it was more likely the attacks were orchestrated by the US to justify its war on Islam. “That is absolutely what I believe it is,” he said.

Whatever. I guess we all say stupid things when we’re drunk.

  3. The country’s most radical Islamic cleric said yesterday he doubted whether the London bombers were Muslim, saying their actions were un-Islamic.

He went on to say that, if, however, the perps were Muslims, they’d have been justified in their actions and the West should understand they were angry and felt compelled to lash out because of the imperial, colonial actions of Western governments in the Middle East, the ongoing oppression and killing of their Muslim brethen in Iraq and Palestine, and the support of autocratic, un-Islamic regimes by Western powers.

    Blah, blah, blah.

They didn’t do it, but if they did, it’s not their fault.

  4. Tim,

    Wait, it was HMG?

No, it was the US government?

Then, it had nothing to do with Muslims enraged over deposing Saddam Hussein and the War in Iraq?

It has nothing to do with the Palestinians?

Nothing at all to do with the Taliban and the invasion of Afghanistan?

No Muslim alienation in Great Britain?

    Not about the Caliphate?

    It’s not about Muslim identity?

    ?

I guess Phillip Adams, Gorgeous George and so many others didn’t get the memo.

    Thanks Sheik Omram!

    Thanks Ayatollah Janatti!

  9. Pretty amazing.

If “The one who benefits is the one who did it” is the extent of their grasp of human behavior, they are far more primitive than anyone else would have believed.

“Cui bono?” (to whom for good) is a POTENTIAL marker of where to look, but anyone with experience in human behavior knows that there is more you have to do to bring that potential to a probability.  For these fools, evidently it’s enough all by itself.

”.....To win the war against terror, force alone is not enough. Honesty and openness come first. The double standard on democracy and human rights doesn’t help.

As long as Jews can immigrate to Israel by the tens of thousands each year while Palestinians stay hungry and homeless, I am afraid this will contribute to the violence in the Middle East and elsewhere.

It is time for all of us to take a stand against terrorism and eliminate its causes.”

  13. Talking of people being completely out of their minds, get a load of this:

    West is in self-denial

Enormous terror was inflicted on Hiroshima and Nagasaki with the ultimate terrorist weapon - but the perpetrators were not Muslims. The Holocaust must surely be the worst modern example of mass terror, 6 million people gassed or slaughtered for political gain - but the perpetrators were not Muslims.

Vietnam? No Muslim terrorists. Cambodia? No Muslim terrorists. Afghanistan, Chile, Panama, Grenada, Nicaragua, South Africa, and now Iraq - each has suffered Western terror in the form of bombs and/or sanctions.

Yet the headlines scream ‘Muslim terrorism’ but never ‘Western terrorism’.

  14. robf: Yeah, to the left, all violence throughout history, but especially Western violence, justified or not, is now terrorism. Sanctions are now terrorism too. It’s part of their whole moral equivalence deal.

And believing that, it would be rude to point out someone else’s terrorism without admitting to one’s own occasional terror outbursts. It’s like farting.

  15. Finally.

On the evening news tonight, they reported one of the London bomber’s family member stated (admitted?) that the Islamic suicide bombers are being brainwashed in the terrorist training camps, and called for Muslims to help stop it.

Well, yeah! Did you notice that all the London bomber’s family, friends, and neighbors were suprised at their actions. If their motivation was purely religious fervor, it seems they would be trying to share their beliefs with family and friends, not hiding their feelings from them. Probably, the ones running the camps realize their radical views are far enough out of the Islamic mainstream, to justify brainwashing the trainees into thinking they need to keep their actions a secret for the good of the jihad.

I’m afraid it’s going to take a strong effort by the more moderate Muslims (if there are any!) to end this anytime soon.

    In other words…we’re screwed!

  17. Tim, I know there is some similar-sounding stuff which is crazy, but you shouldn’t dismiss this report out of hand. It’s a very carefully-complied report. How do I know this? Well, for example they write:

“At times they blame this [London bombings] as the work of Al’Qaeda. Al’Qaeda means [United States President George W.] Bush and [British Prime Minister Tony] Blair…”

Notice the considerate and scholarly use of “[United States President George W.]”. Many people won’t know who this Bush man is. I must admit that I had never heard of him myself before now. But the helpful addition of “George W.” allowed me to track him down and distinguish him from the similar-sounding “G. H. W. Bush”, also President of the USA at some stage (allegedly).

This indicates a careful and objective frame of mind, and so probably the report is also very carefully compiled, which suggests that the man reported as saying that the—I quote—“British government” is behind these bombs is onto something.

There are reports, as it happens, that this government is running a robotic surveillance state, although penalties for real crimes are apparently non-existent. This “[British Prime Minister Tony] Blair” could well be worth looking into, despite his obscurity. Perhaps he plays some minor role in the important world-wide fight against obesity? If he does, he will have only come to our attention through the bravery and talent of the anonymous Iran Focus journalist.

  26. Enormous terror was inflicted on Hiroshima and Nagasaki with the ultimate terrorist weapon.
It took fanatics on islands like Okinawa to demonstrate the casualty rate likely to be suffered in an invasion of the main islands of Japan.
Japan was angling for a conditional surrender via Russian contacts, but they were pretty much pissing into the wind by then.
Everyone was convinced that they were a nation of absolute madmen who would give no quarter and therefore deserved none.
Islam has had a severe public relations problem since 11/9/2001, and I do not see it getting much better yet. The imported jihadists in Iraq are doing so much to ensure that the world regards muslims as mad (even if to verying degrees), and the London amateur hour brings home the point that it can happen anywhere.
If you want to be treated more fairly than venomous snakes, you have to work on your PR.

  31. Immediate former president of the Islamic Council of Victoria, Yasser Soliman,  writes today in the opinion-editorial pages of the Herald Sun:

‘In tragic irony, I was attending a multi-faith dinner hosted by the Victoria Police when the shockwaves of the London bombings reverberated around our shrinking world.  As we all struggle with the bloody aftermath of these acts of cowardice (the relatives of the victims perhaps struggle a little more than ‘we all’, Mr Soliman) ‘and seek answers to the seemingly unanswerable, the brutal reality that Australia is not immune to such terrorist-inflicted horror settles uneasily on the national phsche. There are no formulas, guarantees or security precautions that will free us from the enemy.’

    Get to the point, Yasser.

‘Acknowledging that fear, hate and suspicion are the toxic ingredients of social meltdown, we must be relentless in seeking to re-enforce (sic) our community from within and nurture the notion of “we” rather than “us” and “them”.’

    Get to the point, Yasser.

‘Governments need to to be clear that they are genuinely concerned about human rights and justice, and remain available for discussions and non-violent processes to deal peacefully with these issues.’

Excuse me? ‘Non-violent processes?’ ‘Peacefully?’ Yasser - FOCUS! We are talking about terrorists: those whom you started out criticising, are you within, what - six paragraphs - defending them?

Unfortunately, yes, Yasser is defending them. Finally, he gets to his point, while performing a massive backslide:

‘Countries entering offshore theatres of war, Iraq or elsewhere, can no longer ignore the social and political implications on their hometown multi-cultural, multi-faith populous (sic).’

Fine. It’s Britain’s fault, because they have previously taken in your refugees, even though they have turned out to be COMPLETE RUBBISH as citizens. Yet Britain helping rid the world of a murderous dictator validates this trash - your trash - bombing London?

    Then:

‘In the wake of the London bombings, our tension’ (our?) ‘and anxiety is palpable. Although there are no reports of serious hate incidents, the impact extends beyond Muslim communities.’

Totally insane comment. The impact of the bombings started with those who travelled to work on London transport - and their bereaved families. What have Muslim ‘communities’ got to do with it, apart from breeding the perpetrators?

Yasser still doesn’t stop, but blurts the following:

‘It is not widely understood that that when a backlash occurs, not only Muslims are targets, but also those who look “different”, even elderly ladies wearing scarves have been abused. This reflects the ugly and blind irrational nature of hate.’

No, Yasser - bombing London reflects the irrational nature of hate.

You’re looking everywhere except in your own backyard. It’s about you, Yasser. And yours.

Over the bodies of more than fifty dead innocents. Including Muslims, the first of which was - perhaps pointedly - buried today.
