ENVIRONMENTALIST COLLECTS FREQUENT FLIER MILES
Following a 20-city US tour (for which 75,000 copies of his book were printed), climate change alarmist Tim Flannery is now chewing through hydrocarbons in London:
Dr Flannery’s stay in Britain fired him with optimism that governments and citizens were serious about fighting warming.
Then he read that the Opposition Leader, Kim Beazley, had followed the Prime Minister, John Howard, in announcing that energy from coal was Australia’s future. “It’s like they’re in a totally different space,” he said of Australia’s leaders. “When you travel the world you realise that position cannot be sustained.”
When you travel the world, you create an environmental position that cannot be sustained, at least according to environmentalists. Gaia would be happy if the likes of Flannery and Robert Fisk stopped flying around the planet hawking their tree-munching books. Smite them, mighty Gaia!
Maybe he could hitch a ride with Laurie “Mrs. Larry” David in her magical pollution exempt private Gulfstream IV?

Well, they really are… what’s wrong with pebble-bed reactors?

And when haven’t people in the Netherlands been terrified of rising sea levels? They have tax incentives there, too. In the Netherlands, the tax on an automobile is twice it’s purchase price plus hefty annual taxes and fees. Now that’s an incentive.

...incendiary optimism.
LMAO! Seriously, I intend to shamelessly steal both these quotes for future arguments with greenies that I know! :-D

Darn! Had spinal surgery and have been laid up for a month. Now I’m feeling better and the weather’s nice, or incendiary, whichever, and I have to go back to work…
exposure to sarcasm is the leading cause of spontaneous combustion among greenies and other like-minded vegetables.
On the same note - I forget who said it first, but the reason greenies are so concerned about depleted uranium is because they’re afraid of the competition by something as dense as they are.
75,000 copies of his book? Printed on paper, too, I’ll bet. Reminds me of Greenpeace, who buzzed around in petroleum based zodiacs, burning petroleum based fuel, in their petroleum based wet suits, waving their petroleum based plastic banners while protesting the newly repaired Valdez finally going back to sea.
Paco, you’re a sketch.
#8 RebeccaH: It may be lose-lose. Remember that humans give off carbon dioxide too, especially when rowing a boat.
When the 747 was introduced, it was touted as being the most fuel-efficient transport on a seat-mile basis since the horse and cart. Airliners are now much more fuel-efficient than they were in the 1970s. They surely must be more efficient than an academic (mammologist-paleontologist!) in a cowhide boat.
However, it would keep him off our ABC for a while and that alone would be a win-win.Spot on Tim.
If these dodo’s were serious about preventing the end of days, they would use modern technology to speak to their leftist friends in other countries.
I mean, I wouldnt suggest you get the ABC’s Tony to sort it out, but I’m sure its cheaper than an international flight, hotels, and other costs to get someone to set up a video link.

I was wondering why it’s 10°C above normal here in Toronto this weekend. Keep up the good work, Dr. Tim. (Do you think you could arrange the next world tour for late November and December?)
