ENTIRE LEFT TRASHED

Want to endear yourself to leftists? (Well, you might. I mean, it’s at least conceivable.) Then just do this:

Goddess of hotness Maggie Gyllenhaal has endeared herself to leftists worldwide by speaking about the September 11 attacks.

Promoting her new movie ‘The Great New Wonderful’ - which is about the 2001 attacks - the actress said in an interview that the US “is responsible in some way” for the tragedy.

That’s written by a leftist, by the way. Strange how an attempt at partisan warmth comes off more like a bigoted slur.

  1. Speaking of:

A fan Web site devoted to Gyllenhaal was overwhelmed with criticism, forcing the site’s editor to remove the ability to post messages “because it’s gotten too outta hand.”

  5. Tim, welcome back to the Bulletin. It’s been a while and you were missed.

As for Maggie, well anyone who has “Her screen credits also include Secretary and Mona Lisa Smile” after their name should have their opinions treated with extreme caution.

  7. The 27-year-old actress said in an interview last week that.. “ the United States is responsible in some way for the attacks and to not have the courage to ask these questions of ourselves is to betray the victims of 9/11.”

What stunning and incisive geopolitical analysis and she’s only 27 !!!???!!??!??!

    Winston Churchill look out !!!....

Gyllenhaal expressed grief for “everyone who suffered and everyone who died in the catastrophe.”

    Umm yeah .....

  9. I wonder if she agrees with the same sort of reasoning when it talks about women being raped - “you were asking for it, bitch.”

It’s always the victim’s fault, unless, of course, you’re the victim:)

  12. Remember the adage “Everything before the ‘but’ is bullshit”.

    As in:

"Nine/11 was a terrible tragedy and of course it goes without saying that I grieve along with every American for everyone who suffered and everyone who died in the catastrophe,” she said.

    “But...”

  14. It beats me why we keep paying so much attention to the opinions of showbiz folk anyway. Is it because they’re good looking and better paid than the rest of us?

  16. Goddess of hotness?

I thought I left the hormone engorged 14 years olds at the videogame forums.

And why are they ready to start an orgy over there? Hey, that IS a videogame forum!

Yeah, if we just hadn’t had those big ol’ buildings in the way of AlQaedaAir Flights 1, 2, and 3…

Not to mention the unruly passengers on Flight 4…

  19. The real JeffS — In one of the first “in-depth” features the NYT ran after 9/11, they did a long interview with a woman who was complaining about all the flags in her Sullivan Street neighborhood because she “moved down here to get away from all that patriotic stuff.” She was still sweeping the ashes of her neighbors off her windowsill.

So, how long will it be before Maggie or her handlers complain how all this criticism is tantamount to censorship, and an attack on her freedom of speech?  ("I demand that all you critics stop exercising YOUR freedom of speech!)

  23. Being a goddess of hotness myself, I can attest that the far superior worshippers are drawn from the right and not the left.  This is something all discerning deities know.

  26. # 14 and 20

You’re on to something.  It does no good to pay attention to any of their ‘out of profession’ outbursts.  She’s a 27 year old expert on Int’l Relations, Politics, and War, - oh, I don’t think so! Need I remind that most celebrities are unhinged, self intent, and all full up with hubris.  This supposed ‘interview’ with Gyllenhaal was released by her publicist!  I find no notice anywhere else about this interview, who it was with, where, etc.  She has a new movie out, which is entered in an upcoming film festival competition.  Ergo, this was entirely a publicity stunt.  And yes, her brother is also a dimwit (but isn’t it true that most celebrities are?).  Looking at several of her photos, one wonders how anyone could find her ‘hot’, since she’s thin as a stick, with a very a very plain face.  Shame that a nice Jewish girl from Brooklyn should come to this.  G

  27. Slightly off topic but I read a couple of years ago where Monica Lewinsky was asked had she seen any good movies lately...She replied, earnestly, “Yes! ‘Secretary’!” then realized her faux pas and giggled.

Just thinking how close to and how seriously those show biz folk were taken by those in power during the ‘90’s is astounding now, ain’t it?
